It's been a while since I posted my weight-loss progress. I just got off the scale, unclothed, and I now weigh exactly 56.4 pounds less than just over 28 months ago (August 28, 2017). The loss averages two pounds a month, slow but steady. It is such a relief to not have all that excess poundage weighing me down! Great work! Keep doing what your doing!
I FINALLY met my weight goal, plus a but more than I hoped for. My goal was 2 lb/month and miraculously ended being exactly that. I feel 20 years younger.
That's awesome, tnthomas. A slow gradual loss of pounds is more likely to stay off than a rapid loss. Good to hear you are feeling better for it, as do I. The feeling of accomplishment gives a person a mental lift, as well.

Just maybe I've found something that works for me.. I have the app. "Lose It" that keeps track of weight and calories.. You plug in your present weight and your goal weight and it tells you how many calories you get for the day. You decide how fast or slow you want to lose. So far I have lost 6.5 pounds since the first of the year.. what I like is that I eat what I want and I eat what I like.... I just have to eat less of it and keep track. I don't feel deprived..

I eat what I like.... I just have to eat less of it and keep track. I don't feel deprived.. That sounds similar to how it works with MyFitnessPal app that I've been using, since Bob mentioned it. Some people abhor counting calories and journaling meals, but for me it absolutely works, and helps reinforce progress or highlight needed changes.

I have to weigh and measure foods because I have a tendency to overestimate how much a cup is or how much 5 oz is. I have to journal to keep track of calories eaten for a day.

I've been using an excel spreadsheet to track food and calories for years. I use a gram scale to weigh my food. Calories are per 100g which makes it easy.
Can't do calories here as we eat dinner out every night. But it's easy to figure out what dish is better.

So when I go out I generally order selections that are a single item, like a protein and a carb.. It's hard to do with the ethnic dishes you are enjoying.. I wouldn't be able to resist it...

I know when I have something like stir fried veggies (about 6 veg) with tofu or chicken that the calories are very low. Harder to estimate when it's a curry made with coconut milk. A treat that I like is veggie fried rice with bits of ham or bacon and topped with a fried egg (crispy around the edges). Very high cal. I try not to eat rice too often.

I figured out the calories in my birthday dinner last Saturday.. well over 1800 wowza.. easy to do You aren't supposed to count calories on your birthday! It's the law!
My birthday is end of Feb and 3 days before we leave for home. I'm planning on the same thing I had last year at this lovely beach restaurant. It's a set meal for 2 and we can do meat or vegetarian. And I will of course have mango and sticky rice for dessert. Oh, and several cocktails. Hubby will drive.

We are back from Thailand and of course I gained weight and need to get rid of it. I'm sure about 2/3 of the gain was beer at beach bars.
Not a great way to lose weight, but had food poisoning and got very sick beginning the last 3 hours of our final flight. So was eating very light the first couple of days home. Back to normal now. My trousers were loose that I wore shopping yesterday.
I'm going to try something different for the next couple of weeks. Normally I keep track of everything I eat and drink and count calories - weighing everything on my gram scale.
This time I plan to not keep my spreadsheet or count calories but to just eat healthy and not too much. No snacking, no alcohol except special occasions, watch the carbs - no bread, no rice but will have porridge. No sugar. Mostly veg, fruits, protein.

Well I have to report that since the Corona virus quarantine my carb craving has been rearing its ugly head. Last night I picked up a large 'the works' pizza after my Kempo class. Calorie-wise not too bad, 300 cal.s per slice, but quite a carb load nevertheless. :-o Since the gym is closed(permanently) I've been getting some' workout by helping my 2 Yoga teacher/friends film videos for our fellow [former] gym members, and doubling up the time on my home elliptical.
My weight is stable but am keeping a sharp eye out. I have to make sure on my own that I get enough core~abs workout, and weight lifting, now since there are no longer my regular gym classes.

I am doing horribly. Giving in to cravings but not as bad as I could be. Beer. Peanuts. Occasional sweet. I had started to lose when we came home early this month, then started going backwards. Probably gained about 2 lb.

I've actually started drinking again(2 or 3 times/week) after a 14 year. Dry spell. Recent health 'good news' allows moderate drinking, and I'm taking advantage of it. Not wanting to wreck my weight loss success, I still calorie count and shun sugary crap specifically, and seek low carb daily totals.
Vodka! Cannabis.

Exactly 3 years ago, August 28, 2017, the day I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2, I weighed 216.2 pounds. I was very 'porky', especially for a short woman with a small frame. I'd gained a tremendous amount of weight in the year prior to my diagnosis. I was even too embarrassed to mention my actual 'poundage' here, only posting pounds lost.
Now, 3 years later to the day, I weigh 152.2 pounds. That's a loss of 64 pounds, or 29.6% of my previous weight. It took a long time, but I don't mind saying I'm proud of that achievement, as well as very grateful for how much better I feel.
I couldn't resist celebrating by posting my good news here! Yippee!!!
