Weight, I gotta lose it! I have the start of a game plan, some preliminary numbers from an online calculator: ...now I can kick around some daily menus, and get a food log put together.

Hubby and I lost our weight by going to Weight Watchers... Hubby trimmed down from 210 pounds to 159.. and has maintained his weight at around 165 for over a year. We find that going to meetings and following the program keeps us mindful of our eating and paying attention to any fluctuation that may indicate heading back up to our unhealthy weights. I have lost 40 pounds and seem to be stuck at the moment but I have not gained back my weight either. I'd like to shed about 20 more pounds but will not be unhappy if I can just maintain.
You will find that getting the weight off is only half the battle.. KEEPING it off is an eternal struggle. Weight watchers has helped us with that.

Since 'retiring' in a way, I've gained some weight and now have to be careful. So far, eating less and walking more is my plan. I'm also looking into seeing if I can afford to go to the gym in town for cross fit training.
I want to keep my excellent balance and improve my strength, being a caregiver is tiring, but this would be a good thing.
I would love to see how you develop a food log!

Keeping it off is the hard part! I've been logging my food and calories for about 6 years. Can't log calories now as I have no idea what they are, but I'm good at knowing what's high cal and low cal.
I've been seriously working out for many years and don't intend to stop.
I want to lose about 2 more pounds and I'll be happy with that. And I am going to keep it off this time!!!!

There are lots of apps for that, but I've got a spreadsheet I've been using for years. In Thailand I have no way to know calories because we eat lunch and dinner at restaurants and don't always know all the ingredients and certainly not the amounts.

At home I normally do about 1200 calories with one day a week higher.

Counting calories is torture.
The first few days your weight drops like a rock because you lose a couple of lbs of water weight and you think everything is cool. Then things slow down because you actually have to lose real body tissue. And as soon as your body detects that it goes into emergency conservation mode and recalibrates all systems to run at maximum efficiency in order to survive on as few calories as possible. So even though you are eating way fewer calories and feeling hungry all the time, your weight loss rate grinds down to a virtual halt. It sucks.

I'd like to repeat whatever I did right, back in 2013 when I lost 50 lb.s.
But, as I recall I was a bit OCD, had a higher-than-normal anxiety level, and felt hungry alot, even though I was eating 3 meals and 2~3 snacks a day.
I know portion control is the key, plus making a conscious effort to reduce/avoid sugar-salt-fat.
I'm already doing an hour a day/7 days a week on the elliptical. Maybe I need two hours per day...
One thing is sure, I've worn out this elliptical, done everything I can to address the squeaks...
...shopping for another machine.

As we age we need different amounts of calories and a different sort of nutrition is what I was 'told' by a doctor. However I need to check into that nutrition to make sure I stay healthy and maintain weight.
Interesting calculations:
Maintain Weight:
1813
Lose Weight:
1450
Lose Weight Fast:
1088

I'd like to repeat whatever I did right, back in 2013 when I lost 50 lb.s. I had my best success during the summer between the 6th and 7th grade. I started out as a fairly normal sized kid. But I was an only child and shy and somehow got this stupid idea of getting fat in order to get attention. Unfortunately I had no idea that I was screwing myself for life because the fat cells you acquire in childhood stay with you for life. You can shrink em, but you can't delete them. So by the end of the 6th grade I was 5 foot 5 and tipping the scales at 160 lbs. Now that got me attention all right, but it was not the kind of attention a dude wants. Especially when he is hitting puberty and life becomes all about chicks. So I decided to reinvent myself over the summer before I moved on from elementary school to junior high. New school, new me. Over that summer I dropped 30 lbs and grew about an inch. So I hit Junior High at 5 foot 6 and 130 lbs. This is me in Junior High School. I think I'm about 5-8 or 9 here and still going about a buck thirty or maybe a buck thirty five. The old guy was our next door neighbor. He was a short dude, about 5-6.

Great success story/with pics. What you got on the stringer?
I was starting to get a bit pudgy around 10 or 11, and feeling a bit self conscious about it.
But by the time I hit 14 I was 6ft 1 in. and 160 lb beanpole.
