Gd went to college today, a freshman at Penn State. A little sad but glad for her since I watched her for 15 years. She wants to be a chemical engineer. Said our goodbyes last night. Being in the honors college, they are going to be treated a little special before school actually starts. An example is one night a chef is coming in to cook all of them a special meal. Gd is one go getter and I hope that all works out for her.
2 old congrats on your gd getting engaged.

You gals are so focused and busy I'm impressed and feeling a little guilty.
Still impressed but I deep sixed the guilt. Lol.
Wouldn't it be nice to meet each other face to face? Maybe have lunch together.
Years ago I met a woman and her daughter from another chat room. We had a great visit and a real nice time. They lived in PA and I'm on Long Island. My spouse and I were vacationing in PA and they were about an hour away and invited us to their home. It was a very special visit.
Even though we never met face to face until that visit we were very good friends because of that chat room.
Face to face was alot more special than words on a computer. However if it wasn't for those words we would have never met.
She passed away years ago but we had a very close friendship. I still miss her.

Had a "visitor" today. 165 lb Great Pyrenees. Hatchi. Former neighbors were in town visiting from Boston. Brought Hatchi with them. He's a certified support dog. What a beautiful animal! Hardly ever leaves his mistress's side.

Stopped by the hair place, Monday, to get sheared. While waiting, struck up a conversation with a lady who was also waiting. Talked about the hot weather, etc.
She was called to a chair by one of the stylists. Shortly after, I was called by another one of the ladies. The one I had asked if I wanted it cut the same as they had been cutting it. Told her I didn't know a #4 from a #8 and my wife would tell me if it was okay or not.
Well, the stylist thought I meant the lady I had been talking to was my wife and she would need to approve. She said to the lady in the other chair... "So, you're the one who has to say if it's a good cut or not." The poor lady said "No, no, no! We were just talking about the weather." The stylist thought we were a couple and the lady would need to assess if it was an acceptable haircut.
I told the stylist, "Don't know if the lady at home who has put up with me for over 50 years would approve of another wife, but I'll ask!" The stylists all broke out in laughter. The one working on me got all red faced and began apologizing. I told her no apologies needed. We all had a good laugh and in today's world, laughs are needed. One of the other stylists really ribbed her, but all seemed to just have lots of fun with it.
When she got my hair cut and I paid, the other lady was still in her stylist's chair. As I headed for the door, I turned around and said, "See you at home after while, Sweetheart!" She gave me a big wave and all the stylists broke out in laughter.
I have no idea who the lady was, but I think she and I gave some hard working young ladies a little fun in their workday!!

One of the wife's friends had shoulder replacement on Monday. She fell and broke her shoulder about 4 months ago. The orthopedic surgeon tried to screw it back together. The bones were weak and the screws pulled out. Monday, another surgeon went in and did the replacement.
Sent her home on Tuesday. She's widowed and in her early 80's. Wife went over and spent the night with her last night to make sure she got along okay. Looks like wife may go over again tonight. Dog has been having an issue understanding why the wife isn't here by bedtime.

The electrician visited me this morning and installed a new ceiling light fixture in my kitchen. It's brighter than the old one, and is L.E.D. which should use less electricity. I feel very pleased about this change!

I feel very pleased about this change! We've replaced most lights in our home with LED "Daylight" bulbs/fixtures. So much brighter. Last lots longer. Brighter light with less wattage...so less electricity.

Daughter and family that lived a little over an hour away moved 4 hours away. Pretty well moved in, so we went to visit this weekend. They're in central Missouri ("Misery" to us KS folks!) :>) The property they bought has the home and an outdoor shop sitting on about a half acre. The remainder of the property is 9 acres of woodland. 40' tall oaks. Nothing but trees, underbrush and wildlife. Lots of deer. Had some grazing in their yard and one of the neighbor's yards while we were there. Their neighbors have said the occasional black bear will wander through, but not a large population of them in that area. If we'd have waited a couple weeks, the trees would have been almost totally turned to fall colors.
Not a bad drive. Zipped right through KC. 250.2 miles from door to door and a hair under 4 hours with one "potty stop" along the way.
The community is very heavy Mennonite and Amish. An Amish family installed a fence for them in their backyard so the dogs wouldn't wander off. They took us to some of the stores. Those had mostly Mennonite owners and workers. A few buggies along the streets and tied up outside the stores from the Amish shoppers.
Daughter works in Jefferson City, MO so has about a 45 minute commute. She had that much in the KC area, but not nearly as much traffic to negotiate, here. Just more deer, armadillos, etc. to get in your way.

I just came from getting another Covid shot (Moderna XBB Monovalent for latest variants). This is my 7th covid-related shot. Based on experience, I'll rest/take it easy for a few days.

How are you feeling now? Any side effects from the vaccine this time? Dr. gave my flu shot but would not give me the covid since she said a lot of people are getting really sick from it. My last Covid shot was in June, had 7 of them. She wants to study the RSV vaccine. I had RSV this year thanks to my gds. How much poison do I want in my system? nkat

How are you feeling now? Any side effects from the vaccine this time? Thanks for asking, Drifter . I'm feeling quite back to normal now. Only had expected effects: temperature, very sore arm, chills, feeling very crappy the first night, under the weather the next day, somewhat lethargic for another day or so. That's about it; much like my previous 6 covid shots. In a few weeks, I'll book my flu shot (high-dose 'Fluzone' one for seniors). I don't like to get flu & covid shots at the same time.

One would think after having 7 covid vaccines, ones immune system would be up to par. Thanks for asking, Drifter . I'm feeling quite back to normal now. We got our flu shots for Seniors on Saturday. I learned my lesson last year, getting the covid & flu vaccines at the same time and feeling terrible for days. We'll wait a few weeks to get the covid vaccine. Glad to hear you are feeling better now!

Sorta under the weather the past couple days. Wonder if a slight reaction to the RSV shot on Friday. Arm still sore, yesterday, but didn't think much of it. Ran a couple errands, but it was cold and didn't leave the house for long. Just feeling a little tired.
The tired had me in bed around 8 p.m. Never go to bed that early. Not planning on golf due to cold weather, so didn't set an alarm. ALWAYS up before 5 a.m. even without an alarm. Woke and looked at the bedside clock. 7:03!!! Slept 11 hours!!! Never remember doing that in my life!
Still sorta punk today. Ran to grocery this morning and right back home. Spent most of the day in my chair with the electric throw...and the dog... on my lap. Not sick. Not achy. Just overtired. At well, so assume will be back good as new tomorrow. Who knows. Just need them to send this old horse to the glue factory!! :<)
