Guess the appliances got delivered today. We received some new photos, including one of the master bedroom with the sconces installed. I head down on Friday for the pre-settlement walk through. Think I'm going alone as my wife is still pretty sick.

I sure hope that your wife feels well by the time you move, Bob . Thanks. It's a bad cold virus, but at least her lungs are clear and the prescription cough medicine seems to have helped. I think it's going to be a few more days before she regains her strength. They told her this virus usually lasts 7-10 days, but she's still so weak.

As I sat down to eat this evening, it dawned on me that one week hence, a new family will likely be sitting in the same room, getting used to a new home just as we prepare to move into ours the following day. Things are moving quickly. It was another day of packing, then loading the car for the 2nd day in a row for a drive down to my sister-in-law's home where I dropped off more fragile or valuable items. Yesterday it was artwork and mirrors I drove to their house. My home audio equipment has been disconnected now and some has already been packed up. We're down to four days to get the remaining packing completed, but I feel like we're in good shape. So glad I started early, especially with the illness my wife contracted still impacting her for now going on 10 days.
Hard to believe we're on the cusp of this new chapter in our lives. Tuesday afternoon will be our pre-settlement walk through. Closing on the new house is on Friday morning.

Much has happened since I last posted in this thread. I went to visit the new home and walk through it with the builder and a home inspector. The punch list items were few and easily corrected, but I have to see what the home inspector says. My wife and I scrambled to pack as much as possible before yesterday's move out. To say it as a stressful, tiring few days would be an understatement. And wouldn't you know that I've come down with a cold that hit me like a ton of bricks last night and even more so today, which began with me nearly vomiting as I tried to swallow a decongestant. This came on top of a severe lack of sleep the past two nights. I am sleep deprived and now sick to boot. Late yesterday as the movers took our stuff away, my wife and I met with the buyers for two hours to brief them on a range of things related to the home. They seem really excited to be moving into our home and have some great ideas to transform it into an even better place to live with their two sons. He is a Jordanian immigrant with a PhD in some advanced scientific area, while his wife is an Iraqi immigrant, with a masters degree, teaching in a local elementary school. This morning after very little sleep at my sister-in-law's house, we drove back to our nearly empty house to finish one last round of cleaning and packing. An unfamiliar beeping signaled that the battery on the carbon monoxide detector had just failed. We spent a very hectic two hours stuffing every possible inch of the Volvo SUV with our remaining household items and food from the fridge/freezer, then went to the closing in a nearby town, arriving right at 11:30. I know I looked like death warmed over, and my wife wasn't much better as she too had far too little sleep last night, courtesy of a strained lower back from all of yesterday's activities. The closing went smoothly, and now we wait to close on the Plymouth home, but that was extended by the buyer out to next Wednesday! It was to have been tomorrow morning and we were to have moved in on Saturday. Not now. The town of Plymouth wouldn't issue a certificate of occupancy due to concrete forms still being in place on the front steps. Of course, one can't cure concrete in cold, wet weather, so there we are. The mover will charge me every day to keep the household contents on the truck. I'm going to see if the builder will compensate us for the cost. When we finally get down to Plymouth, here's what we'll find waiting for us:

I'm sorry to learn you are getting sick Bob. I hope it won't be as bad as what your wife is getting over.
Your new home is just beautiful! I love the the kitchen with all the storage for things. I like the gas cook top too. Is the oven electric or gas? The bathroom is lovely also. Great lighting with the extra large mirror and the glass door shower enclosure.
Hoping you won't have anymore delays after this one, getting into your new home.

I figure I was bound to get sick at some point, especially with it being this time of year and with my being so run down and stressed. The oven is gas. I was very happy with how everything came out. It was nice to see it essentially finished the other day. I'm sure we're going to love it there. The other day I met some folks who live in another Toll Brothers development just down from ours. They've been there just over a year and said it's the best place they've ever lived. Talked about how social it is there.

First time I've been ill in well over a year. Exhausted with a constantly running nose and sneezing right now. Regarding the kitchen, I know we're both going to love it! Will be nice to cook with gas instead of electric and to have so much space for entertaining. The island is going to be a nice treat. The natural lighting in the house is great.

It's a simply beautiful home, Bob. I'm loving the kitchen, and the bathroom has a sleek and modern look. I hope both you and your wife will be feeling 'up to par' again before long. At least, you won't be under any deadlines to get unpacked and settled in. Once your bed is set up, you both could use about two days of utter rest before you 'dig in'.

Had a solid night's sleep for the first time in a while, thanks in part to sheer exhaustion and two ibuprofen PM tablets. Today finds me upright and my nose is no longer the veritable faucet it was all day yesterday, but expending any energy beyond moving from the bed to the couch is out of the question. I was very pleased with the way the kitchen came out and my wife loved the shots I took of the bathroom (since she was unable to join me that day). I think we'll love it in this home. Right now we're hoping to move in on Thursday. Fingers crossed.

I've been offline for a bit, but wanted to let you all know that we're moved into our new home here in Plymouth. Finally got the internet hooked up as well as cable TV. This past week as been non-stop activity. The move-in went well. Most of our boxes have been emptied and the house is finally feeling like a home. In the past few days we've put two TVs up on the walls (bedroom and great room) and gotten our music system working. Now that we have internet, we'll be able to take full advantage of the system we've built here, which includes music in any of the rooms, heat/cooling controlled from my iPhone, alarm system, motorized shades (at some point), TV sound through the speakers in the ceiling, lighting control and more. We're getting our bearings in terms of shopping, but haven't had much time to explore. Got my home office up and running today. Met our first neighbor a couple of days ago. Finally starting to sleep a bit better, but my wife has been plagued by insomnia for the past few weeks. Her mind is filled with so many lists of things to do. A few shots of the home I took in recent days. It's coming along. Can't wait to get some art up on the walls and get some new area rugs down on the floors. We're going to be blessed by some great sunset views off the kitchen and back deck.

It's nice to have it behind us, though there's still much to be done. Still, it's exciting and we're looking forward to spending the rest of our lives here. My wife keeps saying she can't believe we're living here. We worked hard for this and it took a toll along the way, but now we get to enjoy it. Yesterday as I went to shower, on went the music in the master bathroom, filling the room with beautiful sound.
