Did you not hear about the theory about Martians seeding life here on Earth causing Evolution.? This explains all the cave drawings and Earth drawings only visible from the sky. Nkat There is a lot of controversy about patterns seen only from the sky and cave drawings that look like flying saucers and "helmets." Just as I treat science and religion, I'll believe irrefutable proof. To date, there is only speculation. Evolution occurs throughout the Universe. The one constant that occurs everywhere is that everything changes. That's evolution. I should not have said causing Evolution but once those seeds hit Earth they began to evolve. nkat

I did my searching for many decades and finally the only Religion that made sense to me was/is Science of Mind aka Religious Science which I found, it found me, in the 80's and all the other stuff, nope. Born and brainwashed a catholic but I had no control for many of my young years, the old folks in my life had the control. No more.

keith said "RELIGION HAD IT'S PLACE IN TIME AND SPACE (WHEN WE WERE INTELLECTUAL SAVAGES) BUT IN THE NUCLEAR AGE, WE SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD TO BE SO NAIVE ANYMORE." Bravo!! You should put that in your signature line. It's the truth. And speaking of Constantine, you said "HE (Jesus) NEVER CLAIMED TO BE GOD WALKING ON THE PLANET...CONSTANTINE PERVERTED HIS TRUTH IN 300AD." Constantine changed the Bible so much to suit himself that it is shocking. He removed all women from the Bible except the ones he felt were bad like Jezebel (who was not a whore.) He was evil as is religion. Whether or not the Bible says someone is a whore or not is immaterial. The Bible is full of contradictions, yet it is the word of God. So...God lies? Does God bear false witness? Or...did God make mistakes? Really? God makes mistakes? Oh...oh yeah, there is that thing about men writing the Bible so we can't expect it to be perfect. It's just God's word. The bottom line is simply this: It's futile to try to change people's religious beliefs. As ridiculous as the belief in some sort of supreme, creator/controller may seem to some of us, virtually all believers will justify their beliefs by acquiescing to the fact that they have blind faith and that's good enough for them. Logic becomes elusive. Everything right or wrong is defined in their religious book from banning murder to banning homosexuality. Most religions preach love, but the world is full of hypocrites who use religion to manipulate others. It is "The Good Book." I'm with you keith. I just don't argue much about it anymore. I like your challenge however.

I want to thank all of you for your comments. It's a difficult task to shed the philosophical barrier of religion and finally accept the reality of responsibility for our thoughts and actions. I still honor the concepts of original Christianity.

My father at the end of his long life at about 95, could finally talk to me that he NEVER believed in any religion or god or or or.....too bad he could not have "come out" years and years before.
He lived a quiet life desperation and at least he never went to church that mom bugged him to do every week of his life.

He lived a quiet life desperation and at least he never went to church that mom bugged him to do every week of his life. Plato said"The unexamined life is not worth living". It was said of him"He was a wise man who invented god".
Reading him, you eventually realize he was the author of unparalleled philosophical influence. He would have helped your father to understand man's paradoxical need for a god while doubting his existence.
As you may know, I consider Nature to be our god who created us, through evolution, to allow itself to materialize on our physical plain. We are nature and meant to form our own successors through genetic engineering. We must accept responsibility for our actions as there is no other entity to appeal to. Some people, coming to this conclusion...refuse to accept the logic. Your father was, perhaps, one of these souls. His quiet desperation resulted from the conflict presented by this, admittedly subjective, truth. He couldn't shape his life philosophy and it burned him down.
I hope this doesn't happen to you joymarty.

Well, what gave my dad 95 yrs who knows...he did imbibe too much, but kept slogging thru life doing a couple businesses and richness was never his desire, but a simple as good a life as he made. A man of the great depression. Which I would think many here had those parents.

Well, what gave my dad 95 yrs who knows...he did imbibe too much, but kept slogging thru life doing a couple businesses and richness was never his desire, but a simple as good a life as he made. A man of the great depression. Which I would think many here had those parents. I agree. Hard times, as my parents experienced during the 30's, can bring strong people down. I drank and used drugs to bury memories too painful to revisit. Some drugs, backfired, forcing recognition of those same snapshots of past heart wrenching thoughts and realities. As difficult as it was to do this, I never regretted it. Our souls demand this confrontation to exorcise these demonic pictures and words...to grow.
Your father took care of you economically, which, after such deprivation as the depression represented, was uppermost in his mind. You can be proud of him. My own dad died at 39 when he drunkenly crashed his plane into a tree while buzzing his favorite watering hole...with zero insurance. One of my older brothers died the year before. Perhaps he found that memory too painful to bear and , as you say...who knows.
It's a good thing to recall these things...but not dwell on them. Good talking with you.

Likewise to you, Keith, we find out how much we all have in common.
