Tom (can I assume it's Tom?) I'm not done and I have nothing against varied opinions but I demand we use logic. Do you seriously believe that of the 100 billion souls to have lived on this planet...one of them was God? You can call me Tim. Answer to your question: yes. But you have to realize this- religion is about faith, the belief that something is true even though it's existence can not be verified scientifically.
Perhaps someday the existence of God will be verifiable. Logic is man-made, and is consistent with evaluating man-made situations and things. I like logic, and I like Earthly going's on to conform to logic. Life-after-death cannot be evaluated logically, as it cannot be quantified objectively.
Sure, faith can be flawed but logic is also flawed in regards to it's ability to examine the after-life.

Nuff said Tim. I've respected your opinions and logic in the past...I will continue to. I was a 100% Christian for many years and for many years...I've missed that certainty. More power to ya.
What did you think of my scenario regarding power consolidation?

I don't follow any religion , though I am spiritual. My own belief is an all loving God. He or she though is powerless in the living world. Proof is in the news every day and also in every religion. Hate is an emotion. Love, that's on another plain. Lust is always confused with love. Lust dies.

What did you think of my scenario regarding power consolidation? I respect your opinions as well. My outlook on spirituality is my own, and I have no interest in imposing my view on any one else. What did you think of my scenario regarding power consolidation? You mean: That's all small stuff. Trump, Putin, xi jinping, and Benjamin Netanyahu are looking at an opportunity to consolidate power. What do they all have in common? Muslim enemies on their borders except Trump who needs a diversion. Think about it.
No doubt the "axis of evil"(Trump, Putin, xi jinping, and Netanyahu) are willing to exploit any all avenues for dividing and conquering, and Muslims are certainly handy for that effort.
If there is a World War III while Trump is in office the U.S. will be on the wrong side of righteousness for humanity.

I have what might be considered a "Slowly reacting God" in Nature. She acts incrementally through evolution...every million years or so, a positive mutation occurs and life moves forward. We represent a milestone along Darwin's theoretical highway. Cro magnon man is her latest innovation...we make tools (weapons). Our trait is near to killing us. Is Nature a loving god? I think so. She's giving us a shot p

I have my own theory regarding an afterlife. I believe we continue on but cannot communicate with the previous self. It's the same thing with time traveling, we can go into the future but not the past. We cannot alter what has existed but we can change what has yet to occur. Makes sense, yes?

As Buddhist I believe in Saṃsāra, the cycle of death and re-birth. That one may have many lives Rebecca tease me and call it “recycled” instead of reincarnation

Just had an interaction on FB with someone marveling at the fact that the cross and alter survived the Notre Dame fire... and asking how anyone could not believe in God after that.. I pointed out that while wood burns at 600 degrees F... The melting point of gold is over 1,900 degrees F.. Her reply was some sort of holy gobbledy gook... But science has always been the enemy to them. They don't want an explanation... only to marvel at the fantasy of it all.

They are terrified in a world gone berserk and clinging to a story of hope and redemption QS. The real craziies are the scumbags manipulating them for power and gain. Our own president and his sycophants are a prime example of this disgusting breed. I know I don't have to tell you these things. I'm so glad you returned to this group of perceptive people I've adopted as my own...you are such a welcome part of us. I'm distraught over the situation but determined to do something about it. I truly believe the pen is mightier than the sword. The problem is to gain the attention of the masses. I'm thinking we have to do something outrageous...like speak in the language of the fanatics. Revelations has the potential to provide a 180 degree turn with the true believers who honor Trump. He must be cast as the Anti Christ and the drumbeat has to reach Washington. It's a dangerous and scary road but we're traveling on a freeway to Hell right now...what do we have to lose? There's an intelligent and reasonably honorable Republican (believe it or not) in a position of power who might listen.
I'll send you a PM.

I INVITE ANYONE TOO DEFEND ANY RELIGION (WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF BUDDHISM, THOUGH I'LL JUMP ON THAT TOO IN A WAY) AND I WILL SHRED THEIR LOGIC. I WARN YOU, BE PREPARED TO LOSE YOUR SO CALLED FAITH.
RELIGION HAD IT'S PLACE IN TIME AND SPACE (WHEN WE WERE INTELLECTUAL SAVAGES) BUT IN THE NUCLEAR AGE, WE SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD TO BE SO NAIVE ANYMORE. CHRISTIAN HATES MUSLIM HATES JEW HATES WHITE HATES BLACK HATES BROWN...GET THE MESSAGE? IF NOT, LET ME CLARIFY MY POSITION.... I have arrived late to this thread but I know enough to read the OP as an invitation to a fight. The bold uppercase presentation is like the red stripe on a red back spider - it screams danger. Danger I can handle but it's against my religion to fight.

I am Pagan. I worship nature (which is proven to exist) & I hate no one (my religion doesn't require me to).

I am Pagan. I worship nature (which is proven to exist) & I hate no one (my religion doesn't require me to). I don't "Worship" anything, but I revere Nature (notice the capital N), recognize evolution as her tool, and accept the responsibility of being the most advanced product of that tool. As such, I feel we represent our creator (small c) in trying to comprehend herself. I don't think I've ever said that any better. Nice to talk with you personally. I read most of your earlier posts when I first arrived here, trying to comprehend you.
I only hate the scumbag in the White House. He is an abomination and threatens our very existence.

WORSHIP 1. the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration The point is well taken Fireheart however, insofar as my perception of Nature as an entity trying to comprehend itself necessarily limits that same entity...it cannot qualify as a deity and therefore I cannot possibly worship same. Semantics is a fun game, donchathink?
It's kind of like my minor tiff with Chinadoll. She considers Buddhism a religion. However, inasmuch as that philosophy admits to no deity, it can't be considered a religion....n'est-ce pas
