‘It’s my future’: Montana youth undertake one of the world’s most high-profile climate trials MISSOULA, Mont. — Grace Gibson-Snyder can remember when, at the ripe old age of 16, she asked her parents if she could join a lawsuit, along with 15 other young Montanans, that argues the state’s dependence on fossil fuels is directly tied to “dangerous climate disruption,” which directly harms them and violates their constitutional rights. Good for them is right. They are correct too. I'm proud of them. It's their future and their lives at stake.

The power of money shows its ugly face through the fossil fuel industry's ownership of the Republican party. This lawsuit exposes it.

‘It’s my future’: Montana youth undertake one of the world’s most high-profile climate trials I'm glad the youth are taking the bull by the horns, too many of the older generation have a $$ vested interest in fossil fuels and don't understand / don't care about how climate change is going to affect Life on Earth.

It's the dam fossil fuels that violates their constitution Only an idiot would think that fossil fuels violate their constitutional rights. But kids are easily led astray.

It's the dam fossil fuels that violates their constitution Only an idiot would think that fossil fuels violate their constitutional rights. But kids are easily led astray. I would say in general, kids these days are much better informed and far more involved than many of today's adults and prior generations of the same age demographic. They are less influenced by the power of money. Therefore, they are smarter and more honest than most Republicans in office, and certainly, they are much smarter than you. Who owns the air? Fossil fuels and Republicans seem to think they own it and are therefore allowed to spew toxins that threaten all life on Earth into it. Every living thing on the planet requires clean air to sustain itself. That says nothing of the water and land that's been destroyed by fossil fuels.

oldmontana , fossil Fuels are inanimate, and anyone with a brain knows they can't be sued. You make a pointless point! However, those who continue to control and exploit fossil fuels for profit can (and should) be held accountable for their actions that could eventually make this planet unviable for human life (or most other forms of life). Good On You, Montana Youth!

"those who continue to control and exploit fossil fuels for profit" Profit? They should do it for free? Like we should not use clean burning natural gas and get the government to give us solar panels to heat our homes? LOL!

I doubt anyone has a problem with any business making a profit, but most people have a problem with businesses buying legislators for the purpose of tipping the scale in their favor, when those less powerful are negatively affected. The general public can't compete financially with big business to buy legislation, nor is the general public experienced at it enough to understand how to rig the system. The general public isn't in it for "profit," so the general public has no motive to rig the system. Most of the most powerful corporations in the US including multinational corporations sponsor Republicans, because Republicans are willing to do their bidding.

Sounds like you are in favor of socialism. Typical fallback for a right-winger that has nothing to offer, when engaging in logical debate. FYI There are many businesses that are owned by Democrats and many Democrats that work for and/or own stocks in big corporations. Well oldmontana you just shot your self in the foot...in one breath you sling the "socialism" insult(so popular these days among FOX fans) and in the next breath you admit that Democrats are socialists capitalists too!

Only an idiot would think that fossil fuels violate their constitutional rights. Only an idiot would try to suggest that the young people are suing an inanimate object like fossil fuels, and not the state’s dependence on fossil fuels.
