But like you it's just my opinion. Lol oldmontana , you are a funny person, seriously. One person calls you "obtuse", and instead of addressing that person directly, you turn around and use the same wording to try to get back at someone else(ME) who has evidently gotten under your skin, by pointing out the fallacy of your previous statement. Here's another disappointment that I'm obliged to hand you oldmontana ...it's evident that you don't know the meaning of the word "obtuse", so here it is: obtuse
ŏb-too͞s′, -tyoo͞s′, əb- adjective
Lacking quickness of perception or intellect.Characterized by a lack of intelligence or sensitivity. Not distinctly felt.
So sorrrry...you asked for it!

I doubt anyone has a problem with any business making a profit, but most people have a problem with businesses buying legislators for the purpose of tipping the scale in their favor, when those less powerful are negatively affected. The general public can't compete financially with big business to buy legislation, nor is the general public experienced at it enough to understand how to rig the system. The general public isn't in it for "profit," so the general public has no motive to rig the system. Most of the most powerful corporations in the US including multinational corporations sponsor Republicans, because Republicans are willing to do their bidding. Sounds like you are in favor of socialism. FYI There are many businesses that are owned by Democrats and many Democrats that work for and/or own stocks in big corporations. As I've said before, I hate that our government is "owned." Yes, both parties are guilty however, let's take a look at who is sponsoring each party. Unions that reflect the interests of millions of people support Democrats - not Republicans. Clean energy, which is a for-profit industry working to improve the environment not just to guard against climate change, but to eliminate toxins that are killing millions of people supports Democrats - not Republicans. Enviromental groups, also fighting to bring our environment back to a sustainable level support Democrats - not Republicans. Equal rights groups, fighting to ensure equality regardless of race, religion, color of skin, country of origin or social status support Democrats - not Republicans. Numerous construction companies, itching to rebuild old and construct new highways and lay high-speed internet cables support Democrats - not Republicans. All the large and multinational companies that contribute to Democrats for the purpose of influencing legislation obviously agree with the Democratic philosophy. That philosophy hasn't changed. It's about improving the lives of Americans as a whole. They understand, the more the working class has, the more they will spend which translates to increased sales and profits. No different from Republicans, Democrats are also beholding to their sponsors. On the other hand, Republicans stand for giving big corporations and the people who run them huge tax breaks and scrapping regulations required to protect workers and consumers while ignoring the needs of the people. Under Trump, Republicans gave corporations and the rich the bulk of a $1.9Trillion tax break while our roads crumble, public schools suffer to meet the needs of our children's education, while people need healthcare coverage and higher wages, while we continue to poison the environment, etc. Republicans treat women as second-class citizens, preventing autonomy over their own bodies, paying them less, and believing it's fine for men to grab them by their genitals. By taking no action whatsoever, Republicans stand for the mass murdering of our people including masses of children by guns. The leading cause of death for our children is shootings. Obviously, since Republicans are beholding to their sponsors just as Democrats are beholding to theirs, it becomes clear where Republican sponsors stand and what Republican legislators are willing to do to please them. The difference in philosophies between the two parties is stark. Republican legislators favor the rich, while Democratic legislators favor the masses. Call it socialism if you like, but when compensation for CEOs is well over 350 times what average workers make, compared to 20 times in 1950, and corporations and the rich are reaping nearly all the benefits of tax cuts, when so many areas of public need require more funding, and millions of people are fighting for their right to vote and equal representation while the rich always have access, something has become horribly askew. It seems we need a whole lot more socialism incorporated in our system just to bring it back to a level playing field. Right now, the bullies want more power based on who has the most money. They've paid Republican legislators to give them unprecedented power. We are ruled not by the most patriotic people in government who do their best to protect the masses and grow the economy, but by unpatriotic thugs who care only about financing their next campaign.

If they cannot the government should help them. Under Biden and the D's people that were making up to $250,000.00 a year were getting taxpayers money to help feed their children...I call those dollars for votes. Thanks for asking about helping the needy. Every month I give money to five organizations that help the needy. The state food bank, the local food bank, the Poverila Center, Hope Resue Mission, The Red Cross, and the Salvation Army. FYI I am a independent and have voted for both parties. I vote for the candidate that believes in personal responsibilities.

Guess what oldmontana - this is a public forum, I get to read and respond to any postings, just like everyone else can. YOU copied what formerlyme said about YOU, and used it to insult me. But knowing your record understanding that is above your pay grade oldmontana , you've proved that you not so good at reasoning or civil conversation, but I see your strong point is flinging insults. You know, monkeys like to fling their poo...like minds eh?

Your posts indicate how much you hate the Republican party, but reasons do not hold water, they show hate. Pardon me for again butting in, oh, that's right...this is America, the land of free speech....until the GOP succeeds in suppressing The Bill of Rights. Maybe Trump will get that done in his next term.
oldmontana, I've noticed that the right-wing followers like to accuse those that see and understand the vile nature of the present day GOP as being "the haters". Juvenile name calling, I believe Newt Gingrich started the name calling/ insult slinging trend we see. with the present day right-wing dialogue.
Do good people hate people that do evil? No, but good people do hate the evil, can you grasp that oldmontana? However, that said, if there is a party of people, like the Nazi Party, the GOP, the KKK...these parties are full of people that hate and seek to do evil. I have to ask: Are these groups deserving of anything less than scorn? I pity the people in these parties, they are blindly being lead to support the downfall of America.

I vote for the candidate that believes in personal responsibilities. First, I don’t “hate” anyone – not even the Republican Party, though I find the Republican Party’s actions despicable. Second, Democrats try to pass bills to ensure fair treatment of ALL citizens regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, country of origin, or monetary status. Republicans vote against those bills. Republicans have brutalized voters by gerrymandering – denying people of equal representation. Republicans denied the results of elections won by Democrats. Simply put, Republicans cheat. Nearly all Republicans voted against Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act aimed at expanding domestic manufacturing in clean energy and reducing dependence on Chinese imports. Republicans voted against a much needed infrastructure bill. Funny thing is, most of the money has gone to red states, and many Republican legislators are trying to take credit for it despite voting against it. Republicans unanimously voted against the American Rescue plan. Strange, that Republicans claim fiscal responsibility despite giving some of the wealthiest people on the planet a $1.9 trillion tax break – “fiscal responsibility” - typical right-wing propaganda. Republicans continually vote in favor of fossil fuels and against clean energy. Republicans claimed climate change wasn’t a “thing.” Then they claimed it wasn’t caused by humans. Now, there’s substantial proof that Republicans were lying about it from the start, just as they did when they claimed smoking won’t harm you. Fossil fuels are primary sponsors of the Republican Party. Republicans want to slash funding for the IRS to prevent the IRS from auditing and collecting taxes from wealthy tax cheats – the same tax cheats who sponsor the Republican Party - funny how that works. In some states, Republicans have banned books that have been in school libraries for at least decades, claiming kids shouldn’t be able to read things that might make them feel bad about our country. Well, our country has done some bad things and it’s important to educate kids so those same mistakes won’t be repeated in the future. Republicans have banned drag shows. They have no compassion for children whose sexual identity doesn’t match their plumbing. Republicans, through SCOTUS appointments ruled that women can’t have autonomy over their own bodies, and now they’ve given businesses the right to discriminate against people based on the business owners’ religious beliefs, and they’ve eliminated needed affirmative action which helped to level the playing field for minorities. Show me an environmental group, a labor organization, an equal rights group, a human rights group - all standing to benefit the masses, that support Republicans. Right...there aren't any. I have no doubt, you’ll make remarks contrary to what I’ve said while offering no evidence to prove me wrong. I was going to provide links to substantiate my claims, but you’ve never paid attention to links in the past so there’s no reason to think you’d pay attention to them now. Also, I couldn't care less about charitable gifts you claim you've made. First, you've never given any of us any reason to believe a word you say. And second, it should be government's responsibility to take care of the needy. Of course, if government took proper care of the needy, it would require raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy...and...it would take away corporations' and wealthy peoples' ability to play heroes through philanthropic actions. When Walmart, Walgreens, Kroger, etc. ask if you'd like to donate your change to a charity, guess who gets credit for that, in many cases, without spending a dime of their own money? It ain't you. And what happens to those donations should the country enter into hard times? You said you vote for candidates who believe in personal responsibilities, like the working class doesn't stand for personal responsibility.

The people of the GOP do not seem to understand the "tyranny of the majority" A situation in which a government or other authority democratically supported by a majority of its subjects makes policies or takes actions benefiting that majority, without regard for the rights or welfare of the rest of its subjects.
It has been up to the Law to restrain the "tyranny of the majority", But the GOP is working to allow the "tyranny of the majority" to have more power. The majority is not smart or caring enough to complain!!

Many in the majority don't care about politics at all. I've heard some of them say they leave politics up to politicians.
So it looks as if it's both a lack of interest and perhaps a little laziness. Until their lives are affected. Then all they will do is moan and groan and blame others for not giving a damn. They are quite annoying, scary, and thoughtless.
