Louie, your choice to call me what you wish, I won't let that bother me, but you have no clue about my life....I know where I've been and what I've done and I don't consider myself a shut in. I feel a lot of comfort in my cozy place after a long life of going and going and going.
I think some of the comments are rather rude about how I live my life.

Louie, looks like you live in a caring community.....not so much here also school and most businesses are still open, its just a matter of time though. I see a lot of ridicule of people that are cautious and of the closures on Facebook....such as it is in small town Texas. I've got a couple of friends on FB that say they are tired of doom and gloom posts about the virus and it is overblown. Really??? No it isn't. It is a big f**king deal! My husband has finally gotten nervous about being in Uganda (which he should have cancelled) because now Norway has also shut borders along with Italy and Spain and fear flights from Uganda will be stopped. So he's changed his flight home to Tuesday. Yea!!! Our 'daughter' is very upset that he's leaving already but it has to be. I told her to bring her son and visit here sometime when this is all done. I've only been out of the house to the supermarket. Small town. No cases reported in our area here and Scotland is still testing even though England stopped. I haven't been to the gym but that's mostly because I think my pinky toe is broken. Glasgow has about 6 cases and I've cancelled my hair appt there.

True enough and I am sorry if you think that is rude. My husband is a shut in, so was his mom. That doesn't mean they haven't led great lives. It is/was their choice not to go anywhere or do much but remain in place as their physical bodies didn't allow them to get out in a normal fashion. Of course I don't know what you have done, how can one person truly know another over typed words?

We do live in a good and caring community but I think once people start getting ill, some of that 'good' will become more isolationist. People will see other people as possible enemies of their health.
I was with two young moms yesterday from our CrossFit group and told them that this was my last 'social' outing, however I was still going to be hiking in the wide open fresh airs of spring.
The gas station I stopped at was out of eggs, bacon, and pizza. The cigarettes and tobacco products were nearly gone! Alas! I found some White Claw and decided I'd have some on hand.
We are now officially done with being at stores or events since most everything is closing down.
One last note. Those poor moms with babies! No diapers to be found in 4 counties! Back to basics. Cloth diapers.
I'm pretty sure there will be more shipments and truckloads of goods...but ...??

Never used disposable diapers for my kids.. We really didn't have the option. We used clothe diapers and plastic pants and did loads of diapers per week. Of course today's moms likely don't have any on hand.. They might have to get creative.

But one of my grans gave me a few boxes of Pampers and I saved those for when out visiting. I couldn't afford them all the time anyway. My sister had twins in 1981 and she used a diaper service.

As a 76-year-old diabetic with heart failure and atrial fibrillation, I'm vulnerable and definitely concerned, but not panicked in any way. I will follow proper medical advice re precautions. So far, there has only been one known case of the virus in the Atlantic Region of Canada. That one is in New Brunswick, but none in Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, or my Province of Nova Scotia. If it starts popping up here, I'll restrict shopping to just early weekday mornings when the stores are quiet, and pick up mail in my lobby in the late evenings when it's nearly deserted down there except for the Security Guard. I can have groceries delivered by instacart.ca if necessary, and get other necessities mailed from amazon.ca. I live alone, which is a good thing in such circumstances. I'm fairly private, friendly but not a big social butterfly, so avoiding social contact won't be a hardship for me. All I'd truly mind would be if visits with the son and grandson had to be temporarily curtailed.
I knew it was just a matter of time before my Province became affected:
globalnews.ca/news/6683327/2-new-presumptive-cases-coronavirus-nova-scotia-covid-19/
All 5 people are related to recent returns from overseas travel, not spread from other Provinces.
I'm not unduly alarmed, even though 4 cases are in the Halifax Regional Municipality. I am taking precautions! This morning, I placed a grocery order on line; instacart.ca are so busy that it won't be delivered until tomorrow evening, and a lot of things are already out of stock. I also cancelled two appointments I had for this month: one for my eye checkup exam, the other with my cardiologist for the 25th.
Other than necessary errands, I plan to 'play hermit' during the foreseeable future.

Finally all my old school chums have admitted this is a danger to them and are self isolating. Many have some serious health issues. I'm glad they have decided to protect themselves.
