This group for the most part comes across as living in a lot of fear and so much panic.
And I'm not a poor thing.
And it's so pathetic how the govt forces say nothing about one's immune system...Nothing...masks, sanitizers and all that stuff....

I'd rather know what's going on than not.....Trump would be happy if the public knew less....he tries to squash the media and the truth every chance he gets, most thinking people trust the media over Donald Trump and his mindless morons. Every radio station is about the Virus. And of course nothing about other than mask and sanitizers.... nothing about keeping our systems healthy and strong from the Inside..... Thank goodness for the holistic healers out there are their information. I'm so informed and so glad to not be plugged into cable tv anymore. And if all my friends and family were so negative and living in a panic and fear modes, I'd be looking for new friends. What is really missing around here is Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's works on "The Power of Positive Thinking"...so void in the world all the world.

Have you stopped to realize joymarty, that all the people that help you are the ones that are out and about in the public, bringing the germs and whatnot, directly to you? On your packages, your food stuff, mail, etc?
You are a shut in. But, you depend dearly on others to retrieve stuff for you, even orders delivered to your residence. They are the ones out in the population, for YOU! You can continue on your high horse and state all you want how 'safe' you are with whatever you chose to ingest to keep your immune system strong, you can also post all the links you want trying to build your case, but IF this virus finds it way to you, it will be devastating at your age.
Agree or disagree...I really don't care. Folks would rather be safe than sorry, in the long run.

Your immune system.... my immune system... anyone's immune system no matter how strong will NOT.... I repeat NOT.. keep you or anyone from contracting COVID-19. It's a brand new virus and NO ONE is immune..
And how do I know this? Because it's a medical FACT... not some BS scam of supplements that do NOTHING to protect you from this virus..
Is this what brainwashing is folks? What the heck is her problem?

Apparently Trump has just declared a national emergency.. too little too late, but at least now states can get federal help in fighting this thing. Now if we can just get test kits.

"I don't take responsibility at all for testing lags," so says the stable genius today! Wow!

Well, lets see, there are nearly 2500 positive cases of the virus with nearly 200 new today, 48 deaths, states are closing down schools, too dangerous to travel and the stock market has had its worst crash since 1987 and you want us to read the power of positive thinking? LOL

Agree or disagree...I really don't care. Folks would rather be safe than sorry, in the long run. Yes I am in a LOT, but not a shut in. I really resent that comment. My friend who shops on Fridays at Whole Foods went this morning and yes the shelves were stripped so so much, the panic/hoarding that is going on out there. He brought me a few things, we chatted about this MESS, thanked each other for helping one another, I give him a lot of Holistic info which he lovingly accepts and is thankful for, and we hugged and he went on his way. Yes, we hugged and he was out at the stores this morning....Fear???? Nope. It's truly stunning how so many here don't care to keep a healthy immune system. Keep stressing the masks and sanitizers...yikes double time.

And plenty question Why all the closures, but for now that's how it is.

As a 76-year-old diabetic with heart failure and atrial fibrillation, I'm vulnerable and definitely concerned, but not panicked in any way. I will follow proper medical advice re precautions.
So far, there has only been one known case of the virus in the Atlantic Region of Canada. That one is in New Brunswick, but none in Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, or my Province of Nova Scotia. If it starts popping up here, I'll restrict shopping to just early weekday mornings when the stores are quiet, and pick up mail in my lobby in the late evenings when it's nearly deserted down there except for the Security Guard. I can have groceries delivered by instacart.ca if necessary, and get other necessities mailed from amazon.ca.
I live alone, which is a good thing in such circumstances. I'm fairly private, friendly but not a big social butterfly, so avoiding social contact won't be a hardship for me. All I'd truly mind would be if visits with the son and grandson had to be temporarily curtailed.

joymarty.... A Hermit, shut in, isolated...call it what you want. IF you are not going about your daily business outside and interacting with other humans at the stores, restaurants, clubs, sporting events, going to lunches with pals, or doing the farmer's market.... you are doing exactly what defines a shut in. Or self isolation. My MIL did this. She didn't leave her apartment at all, we had to get her groceries and bring them to her, we had to stop by and help her with her trash removal. My husband is a 'shut in'. He doesn't socialize, he doesn't go out to eat, shop, or see friends period. My MIL and my husband are this way because of medical incidents that caused this. Both in their ability to move about and their ability to think clearly. I see you say you are in your apartment because of health reasons, the failed surgery and the infections that followed. I'd say you are one of the lucky ones now to be set up with the ability to 'self isolate' yet have people that bring you food and what you need! My biggest worry is this. What happens if your people you depend on for back up get ill? That is my biggest worry for my husband. If I get ill, he will have no one for back up. Your isolation will more than likely keep you from getting ill! That is a good thing right? And more than likely, this is what helps you stay healthy. You simply are avoiding all those nasty illnesses running around out there.

All of our WI schools are being closed. Our bank asked us to not use the lobby and to use the driveup or on line banking.
Restaurants in our small town are now offering 'take out' instead of sit down meals. We have the ability to call or order on line and pick up hot meals. It won't work well for us as town is a 20 minute drive one way.
Nursing Homes will not accept any family or visitors, period. However if a loved one is dying, a family member will be allowed to be with them. But they will go through a careful screening and be 'suited' up until they arrive in the room.
The indoor Farmer's Market will be closed until the open air market can occur, weather providing. Local clinics will not let people walk in. Doors are locked. Only those with prior appts can come. Anyone ill with viral symptoms are to call in and will be escorted from the parking lot to a special area. Rooms are being cleared and prepared.
Retail stores are closing. The two grocery stores are what is concerning. Meat is in short supply, TP is in short supply...LOL...I have an outhouse and many old newspapers along with wash clothes should we run out of that!
Adults with kids who have to work are suddenly without day care as those are closing too. Many in our are are volunteering to care for children without pay. Many in our area are setting up ways to help their neighbors both financially or in any other way possible. Our CrossFit people gather in small groups outdoors to work out and socialize and share ideas and support for each other.
Our area gas prices have dropped to under $2 a gallon. Good rural farm people are trying to figure out how to stay socially isolated yet keep an eye on those on their ridge or in their valley.
Many of the folks around here have had Grandparents, Great grandparents who have raised their families reminding them of how to survive the 1918 pandemic, WWII rationing, and the Great Depression.
I am working on a large garden that will provide enough food through the summer for ourselves and our neighbors. Hunting rabbit, squirrel, deer? That is all very abundant for fresh meat.
See? Modern society is going to be in a large upheaval. Last night as I tried to sleep, I felt panic at the thought of losing those I love so dearly and my son and DIL who cannot NOT work. And who I know can barely make their rent or groceries and I know they are far away with no safety net.
I would reach out to them and ask them to come if I didn't have a very compromised husband to worry about in a very tiny house.
See? Panic is out there. But I spent most of the night thinking about it.
Fresh food will be coming up for foraging in the woods very soon. My Grandmother who would be 120 now, taught us well.

Louie, looks like you live in a caring community.....not so much here also school and most businesses are still open, its just a matter of time though. I see a lot of ridicule of people that are cautious and of the closures on Facebook....such as it is in small town Texas.
