Love your kitchen Annie... Very nice job!
I had a new Italian porcelain tile floor put in about 10 years ago.. and I still love it.. it's an off white with a gold vein running through it.. Problem is.. the floor was put in around an existing peninsula.. therefore, there is no tile UNDER it. I want to keep my floor, so I need to keep that peninsula.. or try to match the tile.. OR.. retile the entire kitchen. BUT.. I intend to extend the peninsula to make it wider and give me more counter space. I also want to remove the existing soffit and extend the upper cabinets all the way to the ceiling.. giving more storage. In addition, I want to give up the kitchen table and install and Island with storage and seating in it's place.
On an opposite wall, I want a floor to ceiling pantry cabinet.. with a smaller cabinet with drawers and a countertop forming a desk area so I can set up my computer for finding recipes. Something like this..
If I can keep my existing floor.. I would like to do a Black and off white kitchen.. Off white cabinets with Black appliances.. (everyone and their sister has stainless steel).. Besides I just bought a nice black fridge a few years ago. I want Black countertops and sink.. for a backsplash. I'm looking at off white and black glass subway tile design. Of course I want under cabinet lighting..
That looks good! We have a different sink now and it's black. I thought that was weird but I like it. You might be stuck getting a new floor to get exactly what you want.
I'm fine with our cupboards not going all the way to the ceiling. I keep the pizza machine and the tagine on top of them. I've run out of room in the laundry room.
My brother has black countertops and they look good. My sister has a black double door fridge and it also looks good.

How long will it be before they start installing your new windows QuickSilver ? No idea... the salesman called a week ago and asked if the installers had called. and that 's the last I've heard. It has to be above freezing though for the calk to set I'm told.. I'm not in a hurry.. It will happen.. I haven't paid for them yet

We did remodeling in 2010 - We had the house re-roofed(complete tear-off) in 2010. I replaced the fascia boards, and a friend did an overhang extension over the bay window for the master BR. Remodeled the kitchen too, did the "demo" work, I redid all the electrical fixtures, re-routed plumbing and electrical and demo'd up some of the floor tile for design reconfiguration. I have some photos but not on this machine. Roof: $14,000 Kitchen: $12,000

Niiiice! I'm not yet certain about the cost.. just gestimating based on what others I know paid... and of course it depends on what cabinets and fixtures I pick. But all in all... I'm getting everything new but the flooring. And being that hubby and I have both done our share of DYI in the past, I'm having all the work done by the contractor.. My effort will be confined to signing the check.
