Played golf this morning. Won $1.75!!! Home and mowed. First really nice day in some time. Found out my email and FB accounts had been hacked. Had to change a bunch of passwords. Yesterday, my wife's laptop bit the dust. Hard drive crashed. Sheesh! Thinking about going off the grid. Toss computers, tablets, and just have flip phones. Sure would be cheaper... and give me more nap time!!!! :>)

I've been out mowing this morning....I have new neighbors, at the end of my property and across the road, they have been improving the property and building new additions for weeks now, today when I mowed my fence line, I noticed they have put out this huge Trump sign, an American flag and a Trump flag....sigh..needless to say they will not be getting any "welcome to the neighborhood" cookies from me....back to mowing and ignoring the neighbors.

Tough week. Friday night our dog became quite ill. Lethargic. Didn't get any better on Saturday and wondered if we would lose her Saturday night. Wife stayed up with her most of Saturday night. Sunday morning, she hopped up with me and acted as if everything was just fine. Ate her breakfast. Tail was wagging. And has seemed perfect since. In the meantime the wife's laptop crashed. Have a new one on the way. I dropped my glasses on the kitchen floor and out popped a lens. Got that put back in without going to the optometrist. Worked Thursday to install a new door in a structure at the golf course. Project should have taken no more than an hour. Old building and nothing was square. Had a couple helpers and it took us two and one-half hours... but we got it done! Ladies group scheduled to paint that structure on Monday. Out to the course early to make sure everything was ready for them. Group of about 10 ladies, ranging in age from mid 50's to early 80's. They did an fantastic job!!! I was back at the course by 5:30 this morning to replace signs, etc on the building. Played with the guys at 7:30. Have Board of Directors meeting this evening at 5:30. Should be a long... possible three hour... meeting. It is so great to be retired, getting bored, and never moving from the recliner....... :>)

Finally got a recliner. Had to order online though as we couldn't go to a furniture store in the city. Got delivered today. Nice. Not an expensive one nor a cheap one. Comfy.
6 1/2 weeks since my injury and I'm feeling about 95%. Drove to store to pick up groceries yesterday (delivered to car). Got on my exercise bike today. Haven't exercised at all since I hurt myself so I'm just a blob.

highlandannie, it's good to see that you're gradually recovering, and able to do more things.

Got my morning workout in ( I have a personal gym set up in a spare room at our business), came home and ate breakfast, then homeschooled my youngest daughter. Went to the grocery store with my husband after he got off of work. Then came home, cooked dinner and here I am at TRF.

Got my ballot by email yesterday, so printed it all out and voted. Took it to the post office this morning and hoping it gets there on time! Royal Mail will get it to the US quickly, it's the USPS that I'm worried about.
Then I picked up my prescription at the doctor's office.
I'll get on the exercise bike again and will continue to read 'Rage' while I'm on it. It's sunny today so might also get in a walk.

Sheesh! What the heck happened to retirement... Board meeting last night at the golf course. Long meeting. Ended up the Board voted to push hard for a new Maintenance Facility. The old shop is falling down. Had 4 feet of water in it in 1993. Terrible working conditions. Heading the Building Committee, I had put together a conceptual design and had three contractors work up budget costs. Presented to the Board and we will put the project together and take it to the membership at the November annual meeting. So... spent today playing golf and then on the telephone with an architect and mechanical contractor. After long conversations with them, had a Zoom meeting re financing the project. Looks like we will be right at $350,000 to $375,000 for the facility. Between now and mid October I have to have drawings stamped by an architect and a presentation ready for the Board to approve as what we take to the membership. Lots of work to do and the pay is.... well, ZERO! But, I will do what needs done for the benefit of the course and the membership. May be an excuse to spend less time on TRF!!! :>)
Wife and I went out for dinner... the first time we have stepped foot in a restaurant since February or March. The restaurant provided social distancing and masks were required except when seated. 54th wedding anniversary and bologna sandwiches just didn't sound right!! :>)

Geesh, reading how busy you are all the time makes me want to go take a nap for you! Kudos that your not retired!

Of course, posting may have to take the place of my afternoon naps........ With all the energy you have at your age, you shouldn't need any naps. Geesh, reading how busy you are all the time makes me want to go take a nap for you! Kudos that your not retired! "... at your age..."????? Now listen here, young'un!!! Age ain't a number. 60 used to sound so old. Then, we got there. By that time, 70 was a long ways off and sounded like it would be recliner, soap operas, bingo at the senior center, and Depends. Got there. Honestly, now 80 doesn't even seem that far off and really isn't scary. Days like today, 54 years of marriage sounds longer than being almost 74 years old!!! I expect to be up and going by 4:30 or so tomorrow morning. If I'm not... life has been good. Wills are in the safety deposit box. Ain't got much left, but don't want 'em fighting over what little there is. Don't owe anyone a dime. Have some quarters stuffed back in a sock to cover final expenses. Burial plots are paid for. Long term care insurance in place and has been for some time in case I do have to chase nurses with a walker. That's probably the main thing is that the inevitable becomes more understood. One of the peer group.... that's the geezers I play golf with, the "pee er" group who can barely pass a tree anymore without watering the roots... may shank a ball tomorrow and hit me in the head. Or, I may still be playing golf at 97. We never know. The architect I visited with today "retired" and sold is practice a few years ago. Couldn't sit still so is working with the facilities department at a university just south of us. Puts in 35 to 40 hours/week... and "moonlights" by still doing some architecture design work. Owes me a favor and I'm calling in a chip or two. He's one of my heroes!!! And, I have lots of other "heroes" I really appreciate. I know a special lady whose husband got a terrible diagnosis not too long ago. Had to hit like a sledgehammer!!! They are fighting through it and I think of them every day! I remember, today, the day my wife got the call her dad had suddenly passed away. He was in perfect health at 49 years old. We had a four year old at home and my wife was 8 months pregnant with our second. It took her years to recover, emotionally. We just don't know what tomorrow brings... or if there is a tomorrow. So... you mow your grass. You keep the laundry and dishes done. You play golf. You build things. You play stupid word games on an online forum with a bunch of really fun ladies. You do things to stay young because you are a long ways from being "old".....

Excellent post 2old and very wise words! There's no such thing as retirement. All it means to me is that one stops working for an employer and a paycheck. I wonder sometimes, how the heck I worked and kept up with everything else. Am busy all the time. But, I'd rather have my plate full than not.
