If "behind the scenes" you mean done by PM and subsequently discovered by the admins...well, the admin(s) there should change their statement about PMs: The highlighted statement suggests that using the Report Message feature is the "only" way that a PM can be read by admins. Technically, untrue, but if they are willing to use the default admin panel settings, and not snoop then that is to their credit. So, either someone reported a PM that someone sent to solicit that individual, or for reasons not clear, the admin took a peek at a member's PMs. Just as a disclaimer- I'm not saying that there is anything that prohibits a site owner/admin from viewing PMs, but it surely is a two-sided coin if stated that privacy is assured, but violating that privacy does in fact occur. I never for one moment believed that Matrix and Seabreeze were NOT reading PM's. Which is why I always deleted PMs there as soon as I sent or received them.. Same here.

I know that some feel that deleting PMs helps, but I'm willing to bet money that they are still on the forum database, and that it is just the user that cannot view PMs once deleted.
..like deleting e-mails in your Yahoo or gmail account, or deleting cookies in your web browser, the information is still contained in a database.

I never for one moment believed that Matrix and Seabreeze were NOT reading PM's. Which is why I always deleted PMs there as soon as I sent or received them.. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was a forum that I and a few others here belonged to where the owner/admin swore up one side and down the other that he couldn't read PM's. That was pure BS! If that WAS the case, then how did he seemingly know certain things about some people....

I've always assumed the thought that everything I type on the internet can be seen by somebody. I will be more than glad to type my dissatisfaction with a specific elected official. I will NOT ever type something that could be construed as wishing him/her personal harm. Soon after Brownback was elected Governor of Kansas and began trying to bankrupt the public schools, a high school girl posted on Facebook her dislike of him. Her post did not make any threats or suggest physical harm. Her post only stated her opinion that his policies would negatively affect our education system and the future of her generation. Somehow, that post was forwarded to Brownback and he asked the school to suspend her. Her parents hired an attorney and his request for suspension was withdrawn. When we see net neutrality go bye-bye, IMHO there will be even more chance of censorship and someone watching over things people post on line. In the old days.... Heh, Heh, listen to that.... letters were most often private and only read by the designated recipient. Today's communication can be read by dozens/hundreds/thousands/millions and I would never assume anything as "confidential".
