Hey! I almost resemble that remark... Haha! I'm just a babe of 65 but I have an OAP bus pass (Old Age Pensioner) and an Elderly Ferry Card. How's that for senior? I just turned 65 in October. I feel 80 though. It's been a rough year and a half.

He invited all the banned people back? I guess he forget to send me an invite, lol. I discovered I was no longer banned not too long ago, but wound up making an a$$ of myself. When I get in my down moods...I tend to lash out. Which I did. I was also embarrassed at myself. So..I left. And the more days that passed, the better I felt not staying anyway. I guess I never really got over the fights Matrix and I had in pms and him eventually being a wuss and banning me. I only found out because BettyBoop is still on that forum and she told me. I see a lot of the people who were banned and went to a certain other forum went back.

It's been a rough year and a half. My birthday was Feb. In Scotland us old people get free bus and local ferry once we hit 60. Also get good senior discounts on the first class train to London or elsewhere. I also have a senior membership at my gym.

I browse there from time to time...even when I said I was leaving and made my exit. I did send a message to a gal there why I was bailing and thanked her for her kindness. The only reason I found this place was reading that thread over there about "not having a topic to have meaningful discussion" or however it was worded. I read it..saw reference to a refuge, googled and voi'la. Found this place.

Over here, us old people get to live on the streets or under and overpass when we hit 60, due to not enough housing because...well...never mind. Political in nature so....zipping lip, lol.

National Health Care is the thing I'm most grateful for!

Oh lucky you!!! My dream has always been to see Scotland before I kick the bucket. Alas, it will not be. Maybe my next life? :)

Still got a couple of years to go before I can ride the bus for free. LOL! Gonna have to learn how to do that just for shits and giggles. Never rode on public transportation except for one time back in 1980 in D.C. when I drove down to visit a friend I graduated with that was living there. Heck...65 ain't old. Let's just call it "life experienced" and keep it at that.

The "seniors" thing was a novelty, I participate on numerous forums whose membership age ranges from 14 to ...up, with the majority being in the 14 to 34 year old category. Ha! One guy on a computer forum I frequent recently referred to himself as "old guy". I ribbed him about that, as he is apparently in his early 50s. I'm not sure that an all seniors forum is a healthy environment. Sure, you can live in the past, talk about old cars and old movies. But, looking at today's world through an antiquated perspective does not advance meaningful dialogue.
I'm curious why you assume forums with all seniors is only about nostalgia - living in the past?? It sounds like you think the only thing seniors have to talk about is the past?My friends on FB range from a 12 year old granddaughter to an 88 year old in law of my brothers. But I want to talk to a senior for certain topics. There are plenty of seniors here as well as the younger members which is great. No, the " only about nostalgia" wasn't in my post, or train of thought. But, to be sure, a lot of talk was on how great the old days were, the old movies, cars etc.

Travel. Health. Philosophy. Buddhism. Anything you wanted. There was a nostalgia group but I never joined.

Although I prefer the train. I physically feel about 45. And, knock on wood, no real health issues.

I'm still on Seniors and three other forums, including this one. Two are Australian but both are small. I have been working on SF to open up discussions that might have a political flavour via Speakers Corner in Groups. I'm hoping that civil discussion may evolve and eventually return to the main board. I am Pollyanna.
Obviously, being Aussie, I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I am further to the left of both. My politics is informed by my religion but in US it is assumed that all professing Christians are situated on the extreme right wing. It is a paradox.
My first forum was one that sparked my interest was actually one for young women who were mostly mothers or were trying to conceive. It did have a general section and I joined in there, mostly about education and politics. No-one knew that I was a grandmother and it was an eye opening experience learning how these young women talked. By following links I learned many things, some of them very X rated. When I finally revealed my age they were very surprised.
I post on a FB page for non Muslims supporting Muslims. I joined when council permission to build a mosque in our district was being sought and there was a noisy and ignorant protest group. These people know that I am a senior and they are most respectful. I have met a couple of the young women face to face when we attended a council meeting together. They hugged me as if I was a favourite auntie.
I became very absorbed online when I was experiencing pain in my hip and shoulders but now that I have had several joint replacements I should spend less time on the laptop. I need to withdraw from something and get a real life.

I loved Eons and met a few people who were on it. Some of us found each other and are friends on FB. An Eons FB was set up for people to find each other as well. The only thing I didn't like was the layout and the fact that you didn't get a notification when a thread you were following was updated. I was very angry when it just disappeared without notice.
