robusta: Cult45? That's a new one for me, although I have heard of Colt 45. Again, is it a compliment? Or just more juvenile name calling? Peace and Love Hoot So can we all agree to stop name calling and get back to the business of fighting over the issues?

Peace and Love Hoot So can we all agree to stop name calling and get back to the business of fighting over the issues? I totally agree that name calling adds NOTHING to any discussion. What can be debated, or even discussed properly when the only input is attacks and insults, and once it starts, it usually continues from both sides. This is why I mostly stayed out of the political threads, because most people (on both sides) were close minded and not open to even look at another viewpoint. Chanting “we hate Trump” or “we love Trump” is NOT a debate !

I don't know Hoot? is it a juvenile name? Or is it an accurate description of them that are so blind they can see no harm. I when I first heard it I thought it was clever. It is way easier than saying,"Group of people on the opposite end of the political spectrum that lavish unconditional praise and approval to an unqualified president."
People sure are thin skinned, I am way more aggressive in my actual world discussions than I am online, and no one has run away screaming yet.
If I say you are a hypocrite, is that a name?, an observation? If I point out that your current statement completely contradicts a previous statement, I am in fact calling you a hypocrite. Is that ok then? I said the same thing, but did not use a certain word. The fact remains that the person refereed to is still a hypocrite

BB - I'm curious. How do you know what actions are taken against other posters on a forum? If someone was banned, how would you know that? If I was chastised and warned by a mod, would you have been notified? Seriously, how would you know? I know I received a few unkind PMs but I never bothered to report them - but I agree that if you did report them, some action should have been taken. Peace and Love Hoot BobF... case in point... called people names CONSTANTLY.... never banned.. never stopped or toned it down... I have to believe he wasn't even warned. But you are correct... We have no way of knowing actions taken.. BUT.. there was a MASS banning of liberal posters leaving mostly Conservatives.. I believe Matrix lifted that mass banning because of a slow down of his board.. Time will tell if he will re-instate the political forum.. I got it nonstop from BobF. Besides politics he was constantly angry about me having dual citizenship and telling me I had to pick one country or the other and that I was a traitor.

Peace and Love Hoot Hoot, can we agree on one thing: that name calling is just as juvenile coming from a Republican as it is, coming from a Democrat? Here's the thing: when someone provokes you, and you retaliate...who is at fault? On the school yard, and on the Public streets the school administrators and the police would simply call it "mutual combat", and both parties would be punished. But, I think it's clear that such handling of this type of incident is merely "sweeping the matter under the rug", an expedient method of handling of the situation. Hardly fair. However, when the victim of said provocation is punished, and nothing done to the perpetrator, that is a double injustice, in my humble opinion.

Peace and Love Hoot So can we all agree to stop name calling and get back to the business of fighting over the issues? I agree about the name calling but I don't see that debating an issue has to be seen in the terms of a fight. One of the things that I considered soured the political section was the number of people who always wanted to have the last word. I found myself being sucked into this until I realised that it was futile. I have decided that once I have made what I think is a good point, I should just let it stand there. If it is good, then there is a reasonable chance that some readers will recognise its value and think about it. Sometimes responding is just feeding the troll as I discovered trying to converse with Camper.

I wasn't booted, but I got utterly disgusted with the way conservatives were allowed to be as difficult as they wanted to be, but if a liberal said anything perceived as slightly out of line, they got the boot. I agree about the SF posters named above, and would add Camper6 to that list. He took personal offense to my pointing out the "alternate facts" he liked to post as truth.

Hi Warri, I've always valued your opinions (and I don't think you should keep them to yourself) and I'm glad to see you here.
I don't think I'm getting this "quote " thing right. I can't see the message I've "quoted."

Thank you for providing an example of what I saw every day - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you did not use the word "Trumpeteers" as a compliment. And you got your hand smacked for it. {Shrug} Regardless of the specific word, what does juvenile name calling add to the debate? Hoot.... step back and look at this... Do you thing the word SNOWFLAKE and Libtard were used as compliments? These terms were used over and over at SF... Complaints to Matrix did not result in the banning of anyone.. I'll relate a personal story... I was receiving nasty PMs from an individual.. I asked this person to stop..and told them I would report them to the Admin. This person did NOT stop... so when I reported this person... Matrix didn't do a thing.. In fact blamed ME and my opinions for it.. and said "What do you want me to do about it?" And of course.... Matrix did nothing. This was NOT fair moderating... It was and still is my hope that this site will be different and we will ALL have the same rules and they will be applied equally to everyone.. I invited many of the Conservatives I have locked horns with to come here and continue our debates... We are NOT going to agree...and it may get spirited... but it has GOT to be fair. I was getting nasty PMs from an individual, too. I didn't even bother to report it.

I am clearly not doing this quote and respond thing right. Apologies to all, I'm not intentionally trying to screw up the system.

I had the same problem, when I started posting here. I like the collection of smilies on this site. funky1@# running-around-smiley-emoticon Ha, I just recalled a forum I frequented around the turn-of-the-century(sounds like a long time ago) where you were allowed to use only 3 smilies maximum, in a post
