.80" rain early yesterday morning. Supposed to get some more during the night tonight. 90 degrees right now, with a "feels like" of 94. Better than they past couple weeks. And, beginning tomorrow, highs in the 80's!! Life is good!

Drifter, stay safe! Sounds like some tornado watches up in your area. Do you have a basement or cellar you can go to if one happens to try dropping Dorothy and Toto near you?

I live in SWPA (Washington County)and we were in a tornado watch this afternoon. Very lucky we got nothing but rain. Nkat We used to be called "Tornado Alley" here in the Midwest. I've personally witnessed the damage of some and seen more dropping from the clouds. The incidence of tornados, however, has moved east. We've become somewhat careless. Until sirens sound... and even then, in no hurry... we might go to the basement for a while. They can be dangerous. Don't get careless like we do here!!!

Drifter, thinking of you and your family and friends and everyone's pets and the wildlife. Sending good and protective thoughts your way. I wish I could do more.
XOXO

Thanks for your concern everyone, we were just in a tornado watch until 9PM. Rain off and on most of the afternoon with an occasional boom from thunder. I believe they said we received less than an inch of rain for the day. Was very humid today, especially when the sun came back out.

We have a high of 97° today with a heat index of 110°. It is that humid, sticky, smothering southern heat. As soon as you open the door & it just hits you. I'm so ready for Autumn.

Another 97° day with the heat index at 110°. The humidity is ridiculous. I would seriously consider an ice bath at this point.

If our airport reporting was correct, we were the hottest in the nation this afternoon. 115 degrees. 1 degree short of an all time record. Our "official" will be at the University station and that has not been publicized yet. Still, hotter than Death Valley. I walked out to get mail from the mailbox and had a nice tan by the time I got back to the house!! :>)
Lived here our entire life. Got to talking between us and neither remember temps in the hundred teens and triple digit strings of days like we're in right now.
