Let's set aside the ugly possibility that Trump might be it, any ideas?

Nikki Haley maybe? Christie? I really don't think they have a "viable" candidate. Regardless of who they put out there, short of Biden dying or suffering from something debilitating, I don't think they can win in '24. I also think the Left will gain in the Senate and reclaim the House. Even though it's only a handful of people, the threat of a shutdown isn't helping the Right. I think people are finally becoming sick of the drama and BS.

Name recognition will be most important, since qualifications and position on issues doesn't seem to interest Republican voters. I'm thinking Pence, DeSantis, Christie, maybe Assa Hutchinson. I wish Nikki Haley didn't kowtow to the party right-wing, makes
Notice RFK Jr. listed as a democrat?? He talks like a Republican, I think he might be one of those "Republicans-in-sheeps-clothing" imposters.

A couple of names I've never heard before. Yeah, RFK is a Republican in sheep's clothing. When I heard him speak recently, I couldn't believe my ears. I thought the Kennedys had flipped to the other side. Then I find out he's a "Democrat" - blew my mind. I'd like to know who's paying him. It just dawned on me...it's been rather peaceful around here lately - nice.

Doug Burgum, Governor of North Dakota, says he's running on the GOP ticket. Haley has some traction. Christie, Hutchinson, etc. will not get the backing to make the ticket.
tRump isn't going to be in prison before the election. He'll find means to keep objecting, appealing, etc. to string out any incarceration. He'll be the GOP nominee.
Putin and Xi want tRump or a compromised Republican in the White House. Putin feels if Biden disappears he has the ability to take Ukraine, Poland, etc. Xi would be in Taiwan if tRump is reelected.
Today's GOP has a huge edge. Two issues may well see the demise of Democracy. First, we saw the advent of foreign interference via internet/social media play a part in tRump's 2016 election. That has grown by leaps and bounds and will ramp up as the election gets closer. The other issue is the spinelessness of Democratic candidates... and the Party. The Dems are trying to be "nice guys". Don't want to hurt feelings. Don't want to appear "mean" like the MAGA cult. Laying low... staying quiet will not see them succeed in 2024.
I've remained optimistic, but just this past few weeks is chipping away at that optimism.

There will be incredibly negative (but accurate) ads launched against Trump and/or Republicans, and ads talking about the benefits resulting from Biden's legislation. The only thing Republicans can offer is complaints against the Left. They have no platform and I expect that will also be pointed out. I've been wrong before, but we've never seen an election where the differences are so stark. Republicans have nothing to brag about and their hypocrisy of "small government" after increasing the national debt more than the first 40 presidents combined will be exposed. I believe we'll get the majority of swing voters and the youth vote.

Polls beginning to come out in some states showing Biden leading tRump by good margins. I do feel we will see significant outpouring of Gen Z, etc. in '24. We're in such a 24 hour news cycle. So much can swing things either way weeks or months before the election. I do not believe the DNC is prepared for the onslaught of cyber activity by both Russia and North Korea leading up to the election.
Haley is coming out with her campaign speeches leading with something good about tfg, then something bad that she can do better. She's "massaging" the MAGA cult by not really berating tfg, but suggesting she is their key to continuing some of his policies while initiating new and better owns. DeSantis losing ground. I look for Haley to gain some on tfg.

The former governor of Ohio, John Kasich, would be a viable republican candidate.

The former governor of Ohio, John Kasich, would be a viable republican candidate. Kasich appears to be somewhat of a mixed bag, but basically a moderate Republican which by today's standards is as-good-as-it-gets.

And what he says, does make sense, even though some repubs don't like it.

Kasich would be a viable candidate... if he just lays low for the next few months. There is not a current of former ally of 45 he is not taking down if they dare challenge him. His cultists are laying in wait for the next one to attack. The GOP is destructing from the inside. Timing will see that destruction nearing completion as we get closer to election time. In total disarray, they could reach out to a Kasich...or a similar moderate...in an attempt to at least present a somewhat competitive candidate.

What the heck is wrong with this new Republican party? Who are they really? This is not the party of Lincoln, Ike, Reagan or Bush, just to name a few.
I am not a Republican but it troubles me to see the party almost turning into a cult. An out of control, out of touch, dangerous and angry cult.
I hope serious, reasonable, and sane Republicans solve this troublesome problem and bring back the true and sensible Party of Lincoln.
