Am I the only person who doesn't like hot spicy foods?
When I hear, "It's not that hot." Yes, it is. It's always too spicy hot for me.
I know I'm in the minority here. I don't get it.
I don't enjoy burning my lips, mouth, or throat. I'd rather taste my food but I seem to be the only one.
I sit across the table from people with tears running down their face from the very hot spice in their food. I hear them say things like, "Damn, that's hot" while shoving another fork full in their mouths. WTH?
I don't get it.
Anybody want to join me for a meal we can taste without tearing up?

I dislike spicy food also. I do not even like Mexican food. The it’s not that hot, what do they think I am a fool?
No thank you! I like sweet Italian sausage, not hot sausage for an example.

I've always disliked hot spicy foods. I find them very unpleasant, and don't like 'the burn'. I can't imagine that stuff being very good for the stomach lining.

Was on the opposite end of the spectrum. For years, could not turn down the hottest/spiciest foods. Daughters would give me various hot sauces for Christmas. The son even sent me some "Ghost Pepper" sauce that would burn the intestines out of a raccoon. I used it all!
When going to a Mexican or Chinese restaurant, would order the extra hot sauces. Never bothered me. I didn't "tear up". In fact, I thought the various hot sauces added different flavors and, actually, enhanced the various dishes.
A job I was on, the contractor had a large crew of workers from Mexico. He brought some extra hot jalapenos to work for them. They didn't like them because they were too hot. I ended up taking a bunch of them home and used most of them.
Probably just since retiring four years ago, the taste for hot sauces has disappeared. Occasionally, I will add a jalapeno or two to a sandwich. No longer have a taste for Tabasco, etc. No idea why. The spicy food never bothered by digestive system. I will still order General Tso's chicken or Kung Pao chicken when eating Chinese. It's spicy but not "hot".
We all have different tastes. Heck! If we all ate the same thing, those few items would be as scarce as toilet paper in a pandemic!! :>)

I like spicy foods, but they have to have a good flavor to them beyond the heat.I don't like the ones where you can't really taste anything.... it's just hot.

I remember hitting the button twice b/c I wasn't sure if my post went through...so, I guess it double did it.

No, I don't like hot spicy food and it does not like me, so I avoid it, I do like some non-spicy Mexican food though.

I enjoy the occasional hot curry - Indian or Malaysian - but I eat the curry sparingly, served over boiled rice and topped with sambals such as chopped tomato and onion, shredded cucumber in yoghurt, sliced banana, and mango chutney, shredded coconut and crushed peanuts on the very top of the pile. Every spoonful is a mixture of hot and fresh flavours. A real culinary adventure for someone raised on the ultra bland version of English cuisine.

I have no desire to add any more pain to my life. Especially in food! Lol.
Give me sweet instead!

I'm good with sweet too and sweet/hot is sublime. I make a dish with sliced carrots, diced jalapeno and brown sugar that I love.

Nope, I don't like spicy foods either.. hot or otherwise.
I guess it depends on what a person is used to.. like I heard, in the Northeast there are only two 'spices'- salt and ketchup!
I go beyond that with cinnamon, garlic powder, etc., in some dishes, but for the most part I prefer plain food.
