Thousands of chicks arrive dead to farmers in Maine amid USPS turmoil
PORTLAND, Maine — At least 4,800 chicks shipped to Maine farmers through the U.S. Postal Service have arrived dead in the recent weeks since rapid cuts hit the federal mail carrier's operations, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree said.
Pingree, a Maine Democrat, is raising the issue of the dead chicks and the losses farms are facing in a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and U.S. Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sonny Perdue, The Portland Press Herald reported Wednesday.
Pauline Henderson, who owns Pine Tree Poultry in New Sharon, Maine, told the newspaper she was shocked last week when all of the 800 chicks sent to her from a hatchery in Pennsylvania were dead.
“Usually they arrive every three weeks like clockwork,” she said. “And out of 100 birds you may have one or two that die in shipping.”
It"s just criminal to have a Postmaster General that has no clue what he is doing!

Both my wife and I remember when our folks went to the post office to pick up chicks. She says she can remember the sounds in the post office with dozens of boxes of chicks that were going to a number of local farmers. My granddad would just pull up to the back door of the post office in our small town, knock, and the post master would carry the chicks out to the door.
If we're losing thousands of chicks in one state, how many are arriving dead across the nation? What will this do to the cost of chicken in your local grocery? The trickle down effect could be catastrophic for those who already have trouble coming up with money to feed their families.

If wishes came true I'd wish every single Republican who supports the monster in WH suffers the same way those chicks did.
Nobody heard them or saw them?
What a terrible way to suffer and die.
Is this the great part?
That is if wishes came true.
So, now that we know we have no vision I hope you're looking forward to the perish part of America.
And we will if this goon manages to steal this election. We will perish just like the little chicks and we will deserve it. IMO, of course.

What kind of fool would attack an American institution with a 90% approval rating? Thanks for that question, That fool is ...Ms Pelosi. On the surface- the statement makes no sense, Ms. Pelosi was not the one that is attack[ing] an American institution with a 90% approval rating.
Calling Ms. Pelosi a "fool" serves no purpose, other than demonstrating once again the grade school name calling mentality that the Trump crowd offers up, in lieu of some actual adult commentary.
The very reason that rightwingers hate and despise not only Pelosi, but Adam Schiff and Kamala Harris is that they are intelligent, educated and effective, and are adamant about removing the criminal element occupying the WH and Capitol Hill.

Postal Service chief has testified and he told it like it is. Mail in votes will be delivered. These was just another dog and pony show. Ms Pelois (AKA as little miss Hitler) should get her act together and work on an unemployment bill...but no she has her hissy fit over the PO typical of her. POLITICS More than 100 House Democrats urge Pelosi to pass smaller bill to expand unemployment benefits www.cnbc.com/2020/08/18/coronavirus-stimulus-democrats-urge-pelosi-to-vote-on-unemployment.html More than 100 House Democrats are pushing Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to vote on a bill to reinstate the extra $600 per week unemployment benefit this weekend. The House is returning Saturday to vote on a bill to fund the U.S. Postal Service and reverse changes Democrats worry will stifle mail-in voting in November’s election. Talks on another round of coronavirus relief in Washington have stalled after lifelines to sustain Americans during the pandemic expired. I think most want to help the unemployed. But the $600 a week is asinine as it gives many more for not working than they were getting working.

Ms Pelois (AKA as little miss Hitler) should get her act together and work on an unemployment bill. For what? Folks can't even get through to Unemployment offices, by means of telephone or email and get an answer as to why they aren't receiving just their regular benefits yet, let alone extra benefits. Perhaps they should work on bill to straighten that out first!

On another forum I had to insert the signature phrase due to untruths argued by some of the Trump base. "It's easier to win an argument with an intelligent person than a stupid one." What is so difficult to understand about the USPS issue?
DeJoy flat out lied to Congress today. He will be indicted early next year as others who have sold their souls to Trump will be. He said there were no slowdowns of the mail, while verifiable photos show mail bags stacking up in post offices. Mail has slowed so much almost 5,000 chicks have died while in transit in Maine. Mail has slowed to where veterans are without necessary medication. He lied to Congress!
DeJoy said no overtime had been cut for postal workers. Yet, many of the workers are telling media outlets their hours have been cut and mail is piling up. Today, due to the truth reaching the media, DeJoy had an email sent to ALL USPS employees making it a firing offense if they talk to the media.
DeJoy said early this week no further removal of equipment would happen until after November 3rd. The day after he made this announcement, videos show sorting machines being physically removed from the Grand Rapids, MI post office.
DeJoy seems to own the "Trump trait" of spouting lie after lie after lie. And, now, a member of the Trump base wants us to believe DeJoy when he says there will be no problem handling ballots??? Man, if you believe what this guy says I've got oceanfront property in Arizona for sale and you're just the person I'd like to sell it to......

I watched some of the Senators question DeJoy. He was arrogant and condescending to the Senators, he gave no explanation as to why no one was told of his major changes. He claims to be a logistics wiz . Had no answer as to why sorting machines were being removed.
It sound like he was saying, he put in place a total inflexible logistics system, to save money and it failed total. All he could say was it should work?
He real did not like the idea of giving the Senators details of his changes, or numbers behind his logistic moves?
You would think anyone with a brain would test out their plan, but he is a know it all, who claims to be a logistics wiz
He is someone the Post office could hire as a consultant, but he is not a good fit to run the Post Office.
He does not seem to care at all that it is an essential service, he cares more about the logistics working as he would like.

Yes, there have been mail delays ... he did not wish to give details why and there have a lot of mail delays! ... But the election will be fine, DeJoy says... He again does not want to give details, or show why it will be, ok ...DeJoy supports vote-by-mail, breaking with Trump.. He cringed when he was asked this. ...Republicans have concerns about the mail, too,... Yes, it that is true, but were mostly asking softball questions.
..The kinder, gentler Senate.. the Republican are very gentle on DeJoy ...Technology is hard ...not sure what the point is here.
DeJoy. He was arrogant and condescending to the Senators, he gave no explanation as to why no one was told of his major changes.
DeJoy did not seem to care how his changes damaged peoples lives. Just how great a job he thinks he is doing.

Losing again: Trump's postal plot backfires amidst Bezos feud Pres. Trump’s alleged efforts to subvert the Post Office for his own political agenda go beyond the current scandal over voting by mail. MSNBC’s Ari Melber reports on a long-running feud with billionaire Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos, including incriminating secret White House meetings reported by the Washington Post itself, and why the scandal matters now amidst allegations of election impropriety and the Postmaster General facing Congress, in a new installment of The Beat’s special Backstory series.
