He's set to be acquitted this afternoon. If this happens, does it mean that the 'impeachment' charge goes away? Nope, he still is impeached! nkat

He not acquitted as he had no trial with witnesses nor documents This was just a Republican farce and history will condemn the GOP for its role in his coverup

He may have been acquitted by the Republican Senate, but now, it's the people of the United States time, to become his juror's! Let's see if WE get it right, this time!

The so-called Impeachment Trial and it's outcome are just as illegitimate as was Trump's election which was a con job aided by Putin. There remains only one GOP Senator (Mitt Romney) I have any respect for...the rest are just as corrupt as Trump.

My husband says if Tramp is reelected he will not go with me on my annual visits to family until he is out office. I'm so disgusted I'm considering giving up US citizenship since I have other citizenship.

Is anyone really surprised? Acquittal was pretty much a foregone conclusion. There was never a fair "trial!

I don't think it was an acquittal in the normal sense of the word. In a regular trial, the investigators gather evidence and file charges when they have enough evidence to support the charges. But they continue to investigate to reinforce their case. The prosecution and defense call witnesses and introduce evidence. This was not a trial. The Republican party is forever linked to one of the biggest scams in history. We were all railroaded. They act all high and mighty, but if the roles were reversed, they would have done exactly what the Democrats did.

No the impeachment charge as the Speaker had indicated, is permanent The conviction is what is acquitted. Bill Clinton is forever impeached by the House but was acquitted in the Senate just as Donald Trump was
