Closing arguments this morning on the Rittenhouse case, then the jurors decide the outcome. Will be interesting how long it will take them and what the outcome with be.
18 jurors names go into a drum, 12 of them will be picked from it to decide the outcome. Never heard of such a thing!

Just a random thought....
Does the 1/6th committee actually believe where their investigation is leading, will land the old twitter-in-chief behind bars or will it be like another impeachment with no consequences for his actions?

The former guy will NEVER be indicted or imprisoned for anything. Sounds like the SDNY has backed off the tax evasion investigation. The organizers of the 1/6 event will not face consequences. Only a few of the participants in the insurrection will spend any time in jail.
2022 mid-terms will probably see the GOP retake majorities in both houses of Congress. If that happens, the 1/6 committee will be disbanded and nothing further will happen.
Should the former guy be reelected in 2024, he will pardon any and all participants in the insurrection. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of them awarded Presidential medals.

My house smells wonderful, with the aroma of homemade bread baking in the oven!

Random thoughts for today. I met an ex-teacher and geologist on my hike yesterday and made a new friend. He now does work for the health dept. We had an interesting discussion mostly about geology in an ice cave.

A bull elk visited our property last night. Walked all over the side yard and a few feet from our back deck. Appears that he entered from the driveway and took his grand old time checking everything out.

Random thoughts for today. I met an ex-teacher and geologist on my hike yesterday and made a new friend. He now does work for the health dept. We had an interesting discussion mostly about geology in an ice cave. If I could live life over, one of my career choices would be geology. Spent so much of my years digging holes. :>) Found it amazing the strata below us and how that strata could change in inches or feet. Saw areas near rivers where we assumed a contractor would have trouble controlling water and our excavations were dry. Was called back from retirement to get a contractor out of trouble when he was recirculating the Missouri River through his excavation. I arrived on site and he had 40... FORTY... large pumps running trying to dewater the excavation. After a few hours, I told him what he would need to do. He shook his head and kept pumping water for almost two more weeks. Finally, he asked me to map out what I thought would get him out of trouble. Within 10 days, we were down to elevation and he was forming and tying resteel for his concrete. Was in a hole 55 feet deep when we bored out into a river channel. Coffer dam in the river, pumped dryish. Still, would the river water find another way out into our excavation? Nope. Dry as a bone. Pushed the 30" pipe out into the river channel, set our structure in the hole, and away we went. As we travel our streets and highways... as we take walks around our neighborhoods... we have no comprehension of what lies below us. From the spider web of water lines, sewer lines, fiber optic cables, electrical cables, etc. to the soils and strata below us. We "pedestrians" know so little of the real Earth........

It has no evidence of glaciation. Our sedimentary rocks and caves date to the Paleozoic era and perhaps older than that. In my creek I've found Stromolites and other cool fossils. Living here is so unique. I wish I knew more geology!

Hubby got a call yesterday to come back to work, after being laid off for 18 months because of the pandemic. They offered an 8% pay increase, plus a 60ยข per hour shift increase, and all his seniority reinstated.
The company said they've been calling people back but most aren't interested. (Sure they aren't because they had to find other jobs because unemployment ran out.)
He thought about it, and made the decision to go back. Will start back in about a week.
It'll feel strange, not having him home all the time again.

The big wigs don't want to do the real work and now they know how it feels. Good for him. Who wants to start looking for a new job especially in the middle of a pandemic? I just hope they are on the up and up and realize they made a greedy and dumb decision letting so many people go. It was cruel. They need him now and I hope they learned a lesson.

Are you directing this at me birdgal? Where he works, they make car parts for Toyota, GM, Ford Motor and Honda. When the pandemic hit, so did it for those companies. So naturally, it would interrupt the chain of demand. His company chose to ask employees if they wanted to voluntarily sign up for a lay off with the option of a call back within 2 years. My husband chose to take them up on it which was a good move for him. 75 other employees chose that path too. It gave his body time to heal & become stronger, from going through cancer treatments. He never did miss a day of work even when he went through chemo and radiation. They know what a productive employee he was and were happier than heck for him to say yes to call back. His job is not laborious. All he does is program a line of computers to tell the robot machines what to do. He says this is the easiest job he ever had for the money. He has nothing to loose. He can work a week and quit or continue working. I was just stunned, at his age, he would even consider going back. But, that's what he wanted to do and I support his decision.

First, my wife couldn't wait for me to get back out of the house after we retired!! Of course, I'd been "living on the road"... only home on weekends... for quite a few years. I was an invasion into her typical daily routine(s). So... I took the job substitute teaching for a while. Then, have been extremely occupied with golf, golf course maintenance, and Board of Director time requirements. She's happy! :>) And, I fully understand where he's coming from. He's worked hard his entire life providing for family and being "productive". It's difficult to go from that "need" to sitting in a recliner all day watching Oprah reruns!!!! :>) With the shortages in labor forces and employment opportunities on every corner, hardly a day goes by that i don't wonder if I should apply for work somewhere. Yet, I do have the opportunity to stay active and involved with decision making activities, etc. out in the "real world". When this last term on the BOD expires and/or I don't have the "escape" to play golf most days... you may find me saying "Welcome to McDonalds! How may I help you today?" Heck! I'm only 75.....

We are still waiting for an unemployment check for dh. It has been 8 weeks. He will go back to work for his employer when work picks up. They want him back. Supplies are hard to get for building and remodelling. He is 74 and a master carpenter. The VA is suppose to give us some compensation for his cancer for agent orange. Have not seen that yet either.
