Years ago you’d hear allot of men referring to females as a Shiela which is actually my DIL name. Back in-my young days if your said…. She did it as an example …….of using ….She…….. we were swiftly told “She’s the cats mother “ so don’t say that … So I don’t know if those terms were used in your country 2old By the way how’s Mrs 2 old doing ? After her fall down stirs, I shudder to think what could have been…. the outcome of a tumble down stairs at our ages

My British son-in-law has never heard the expression"Fall off the perch." He said that "Pop your clogs" means the same thing in the UK. In the U.S. "Kicked the Bucket" means somebody died. We can use all of them in the idiom question in Forum Games.

I think we teach each over sayings in time. It is so interesting to learn new sayings and words.

Been trying to keep up with Forum Games. Been really busy and running out of steam. This big building project has about got the old man totally worn out! Building delivered tomorrow and unloaded. Once we get it on site, I can pretty well turn it over to the general contractor. Still fighting the regulatory agency for our building permit, but have that about whipped. I just want to be retired!!!
Six more months on the Board of Directors. By early August we begin our budget work for 2024. Have a fantastic Finance Committee chairman, this year, and he will do a good job with that. A couple wild cards on the Board this year. No thought of precedent or potential down side of their ideas. Been a good six years on the Board, but time to just play golf and maybe take some road trips with the wife.

Count down the months now 2old. You can then start ticking off some of the things you put up on list 5 things etc. Obtaining permits are a nightmare over here as well, especially in our shire. Far too much red tape and arrogant workers.

Listen to this for clear thinking. Son and DIL have a block of land that is land locked. On one side is a right of way and they wanted to put through a laneway to their property. Doesn't sound like a lot to ask does it? Well this poonsedup arrogant person said you have to have a building permit for a house before you can apply for a laneway to be put in. Then he said to obtain a building permit you need to have a roadway to the property. I wasn't there but husband and son looked at each other and son said that makes no sense at all. Are you listening to what you are saying? Son then said who can I appeal this decision to? The engineer said there is no appeal. Son said he had been a public servant for X amount of years and there is always an appeal system if the organisation is government or semi government. Apparently husband repeated back what was said about the permits pointing out how they didn't make sense. Eventually Mr Engineer said well in this case if you make application for the two permits at the same time then that would acceptable. What can one say????

We had issues with the local council, here when we put in our application to get the house built ….our agent we signed up said those council workers were noting short of glorified photocopiers … .which we agreed with …. Because we was building on a corner the council said we need to place the home 3-4 mtrs from where the Fence would be , I said how come there are homes in the new area right in boundary or very close ………. And the glorified photocopier scratched his wobbly bits looked us straight in the eye and said …..oh it’s a law that’s going to come into force in the next 10 years of so ….. but we are building Now …..not in the next 10 years or so ….. we got it passed by talking to a more intelligent person to build 2 mtrs off side fence joybelle

Why would your dear son want to put in a application to build a house if he couldn’t access the property ….Dah I agree they ask how stupid are you ? at job interview… …and the fact the one we spoke to more than once scratching his private bits in front of us …I found it bazaar to say the least …..and he sorta spat when talking ….

Dusty and joybelle, it's 4:30 a.m. and I am sitting her laughing at your conversation!!! You have started my day with a smile on my face! Not only do I feel your pain with local elected officials, I wish so much I could hear the two of you discussion this across a dining room table. The colloquialisms from one side of the world to another are so interesting. But, for now I guess I'll just have to go back to "scratching my private bits" and do a few more of these games!!! :>)
