Posted this in one of the threads above. If some of you "gamers" didn't see it there, well....
Each morning I always give my wife a quick peck on the cheek before I leave for the golf course. She's either still asleep or will groan an "Okay" as I head to the door. Monday morning, as I followed the "ritual", she was awake and said, "Don't leave. We need to talk!"
During night, she noticed her bathroom was low on toilet paper. In the dark, she headed back to our back bathroom knowing some extra tissue was there. Still in the dark... she says we've lived in this home almost 25 years so she should be able to find her way around in the dark... she left the back bathroom and turned into the kitchen, headed back to the bedroom. Well, she went to past the kitchen door and, instead of turning into the kitchen, she stepped into the next doorway which is the stairway to our basement! Down the stairs she went! Thinks she bounced/slid about halfway down the steps. Didn't scream. Didn't call for me. Just let me sleep.
Picking herself up, she realized the roll of tissue has gone to the bottom of the stairs. Hobbled down to the bottom of the stairs, picked up the toilet paper, and climbed back up to the main floor. One of her pinky fingers was popped out of joint. She grabbed it and snapped it back in place. (Two days later, it's finally losing some of the black & blue coloring.) Big scrape on the front of an ankle. That ankle is swollen and black & blue. (She says it's not broken because it doesn't hurt and she can walk on it.) The main thing she complains about is she says "My butt hurts!" (Now my wife is quite petite. So, like a male idiot, I quipped, "If your butt hurts, sure hope it doesn't swell up any bigger!" Ouch! I better not get close to the stairway or I might get a shove!)
At 76, our bones break easily and we don't heal as fast as when we were young. She's one lucky lady! Our RN granddaughter came by to look at her and says nothing appears needing medical attention. She, too, got in trouble when saying "Grandma, maybe you need one of those 'I've fallen and can't get up' necklaces! She drove to her coffee group yesterday morning. Been taking some Tylenol once in a while. Maybe there's some truth to folks saying if you can bear a child you can bear about any pain.
