Senator McCain was an honorable man. A man who served his country with dignity and grace. A courageous hero who had the battle scars to prove it. He was an honest man who was not afraid to tell the truth. He was respected not only for who he was but for what he did. A true statesman. A patriot brave enough to admit he wasn't perfect. d*mn close to perfection as far as I'm concerned.
He will be missed.
RIP, Senator McCain.

A short tribute that was prepared for release by the White House was stopped by Trump. Instead, he issues one short Tweet. Remember, Trump suffers no person who might dare disagree with him... even decorated war heroes. It is being reported that one of McCain's last requests was that Trump not attend the funeral. Ordinarily, this would be suggested as a cruel deathbed request. McCain knew that an appearance by Trump would be all about him. Trump may still make every attempt to steal the moment. It would not surprise me to have Trump announce a press conference where he will offer important news re North Korea, China, etc. at the same time McCain's funeral was to be aired. Or...… Trump will schedule a press conference to fire Sessions at the same time as the funeral. He will not take this slight lightly. I had said it would have been so great had McCain been able to hold on until Trump was removed from office. Could the McCain slight... and the request to have Obama and "Dubya" speak at the funeral completely unhinge Trump? Could this send him into some state of madness whereby even the staunchest supporters in Congress would no longer have his back? Could McCain's death and funeral service actually be what we see stronger than Mueller and be what actually takes down Trump?

I can't even think of a word strong enough to express my disgust at the total waste of flesh that slithered his way into the WH. Even this comparison is an insult to snakes.
His supporters are right up there, um I mean down there, with him.

...after 18 replies and almost a full day, and no posts from the several so-called conservatives here? So telling.

John McCain was a good person, I did not always agree with him, but sad to see him go.

John was a true friend and ally.... he believed in democracy and was absolutely a great Patriot.... I will never forget one moment which I was having a particularly hard time with a certain Senator which I won't name but I was pretty "beat up" by the subcommittee. Senator McCain smiled at me and said... Don't sweat the small stuff.... you are dedicated to service to this country and I personally thank you for your service.... you will prevail stand your ground Doctor V and I did.... He was a wonderful human being and I am actually ashamed of the Coward in Chief for raising the Flag over the White House and his pathetic tweet about this hero.... I am ashamed that our President is such a petty coward.... draft dodging possible traitor.... in comparison to this great American Patriot and hero... John McCain.... May you Rest In Peace Sir.... you earned my highest respect and admiration........ God Bless....

I didn't always agree with him politically but he was an honorable decent man. I do believe he would have been president had he chosen to run with someone other than Sarah Palin and I also believe he would have been a good one. Great loss. I recall very specifically during the 2008 campaign examining McCain's stated positions with that of Obama. There were few differences. I had never heard
of Obama, but had been looking for an 'excuse' to vote for McCain for years. Had it not been for his pick of Palin as running mate, he would have had my
vote. Me, too. The idea of Sarah Palin being one heartbeat away from the presidency was more than I could stomach.

John McCain was a patriot and statesman, and we have precious little of that going on nowdays. Trump is not fit to shine McCain's shoes.
RIP, John McCain.
