How about we just go back to the INS and actually enforce the laws without being inhumane. Unless Dems want a free pass. In that case get rid of homeland security all together. Screw it. Let anyone in, no matter their motive and let the pieces fall were they may. Just don't dare complain about IED's and suicide bombers. Call it the new world order. Good grief, are you seriously comparing individuals who come over the southern border to try to build better lives for their families, to suicide bombers and other terrorists?!? Not at all... But there has to be some order of immigration, not just a free for all. If I break onto someone house and are caught I'd have to face consequences. I;m not saying separate kids from parents,, that IS inhumane. I'm also not saying deport those who have made lives and here already and are stand up people.. Allow those to start the journey to become citizens without trapping because their visa or green card expired 10,20 or 30 years ago. Ripping a father from his wife and children and deporting is just wrong. They learned the English language and the assimilated into the American culture bringing there own flare for christ sake. |

So you want to fix our immigration system, I did not know it was broken... It's been broken for at least 40 years that I know of. I'm willing to bet that even FOX & Friends had characterized the immigration laws as broken, at one time or another. As far as families being torn apart Trump issued an executive order to keep families together. As Kady mentioned, Trump's recent executive order retreats from his earlier order back in May that started the separation of 2300+ children from their parents at the border. My fear is that we become sanctuary country. What exactly is a "sanctuary country", in your view? In my view, it would be a country that was a safe refuge from harm, political persecution, etc. The U.S. currently has laws
extending "sanctuary" to immigrants fleeing from perseution....it is an American virtue. |

This was the policy prior to Trump.... now... lock them all up regardless of seeking asylum or not and separate children.... heartless cruel and very unnecessary... As an immigrant myself, I don't understand why he believes that every Mexican coming across is MS13 0r other drug dealing rapists.... and will SOMEONE PLEASE tell this pendejo that building a Wall isn't going to stop drugs coming into this country.... There is a new invention Donald... it's called an airplane... sheesh....

FOX News wasn't launched until 1996 but I guess there was equally slanted dis-information sources out there one could consume their favorite 'comfort news' stories. The Immigration Reform and Control Act was launched in 1986, but the whole Immigration issue goes back much further, to the Bracero Program era and even WWII. I don't see any other, more high profile democrats(like Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, for example) standing on the steps in front of Congress or on TV news programs proclaiming the desirability of doing away with ICE.
Not to mention: you had not asked anyone's opinion in this post, you just inserted your little talking point that:
...that you were spoon fed and had picked up on some Fox & Friends broadcast, no doubt.
BUT, later on in the thread you claim[falsely] that you "asked" but did not get an answer, so as a gesture of good will I will humor you and give you my opinion:
The senator was addressing a young, hip audience at the OZY FEST event and threw that comment out, in order to connect with what may well be her constituency....much the same
way that Trump connects with the audience at his hate rallies, you know- a little subtle racist or facist comment to get the followers primed.
The Democrats are no more going to try to abolish ICE than the Republicans would try to abolish Medicare and Social Security....although the Repub's will be looking for ways to cut and reduce recipients earned benefits.
ICE as an organization is not the problem, the problem is the Administration that directs and orders ICE to take actions. Once Trump and his administration is gone, ICE will continue to pursue its mission in the professional manner that it typically had, in the past.

I get a special kick out of rants about our laws. I sense this high and mighty self righteous attitude always directed at others when claiming we're a nation of laws. Of course we are. Every one of us obeys the letter of the law all the time and never ever breaks one single law. We're perfect. That's why we recoil in horror and yell and shout at imperfect strangers who dare to rub elbows with such lawful, truthful, and honest people. They're not like us. We're different. We're better. We're lawful and perfect. They're all a bunch of lawbreaking misfits, rapist, murderers, etc.
We're all honest and truthful and lawful just like the thing stinking up the WH.
