Kind of chilled out around the house today b/c I was Christmas shopping most all day yesterday. I did my morning workout. Them, I spent time playing with our bunny, Luna. Once hubby got home, we went grocery shopping. I came home and fixed dinner... and now here I am just surfing the net & reading posts here.

After months of beautiful weather in which to enjoy golf, hit a few unwelcoming ones. By mid afternoon, yesterday, we still had a wind chill in the 20's. Cold through the next few days. Probably no golf for me until Thursday. Haven't missed 5 days in a row for eons!!! The withdrawl symptoms are already setting in. Spent yesterday doing what I despise. Spent most of the day in my recliner, reading and watching the television. Ain't gonna do that again today. Getting ready to bundle up and take the dog for a walk. Should finish a library book in the next few hours. Chiefs play at noon. Once the game is over, will head to the library.

I've been cleaning out the fridge this morning....pure druge.....a job I hate...rotten tomatoes in the veg drawer....crude ran down the back of fridge, requiring taking every drawer and shelf out, getting up and down on my knees, an act that could require a call for help from the neighbors.
Anyway after an hour, it's done! I'm now in my recliner resting....my stage in life is now work a little, rest a lot.....oh and complaining to you guys.....lucky you.

Went to supermarket at 7:30am to pick up some of the stuff I couldn't get on click and collect (online shopping). Working out. Then doing a job I've been putting off - cleaning our laundry room - lots of shelves in there that have become disorganised.

Spent most of the past two days fielding calls from consulting firms re our upcoming building project. Really... though I hate to admit it... too cold for golf anyway. Met last night... social distanced... with the Board of Directors for our annual welcoming of new Board members and thanking outgoing members. Up early this morning, sending rejection emails to the consulting firms who submitted proposals and we won't be using. Acceptance email sent to the firm we will contract with.
I only "got loud" a couple times in last night's meeting. Our treasurer is a retired military logistics officer. He has a difficult time understanding doing things any way but the "military/government" way. We are good friends, but not afraid to express our opinions rather soundly.
Was hoping to be back on the course today. Forecast high is only 37 degrees. Tomorrow and "heat wave" begins with temps in the 50's. Will need to decide whether to "brave" it today or wait one more day.
Trying to put something together with daughters and their families for Christmas. I have put my foot down that we won't be getting together with them in anyone's home. Just too dangerous right now. The one daughter has about 10 acres on their "goat farm". The have a nice pond area not far from the house. We may travel there, meeting the other daughter and family there, and spend a couple hours outside near the pond. It's supposed to be 60 degrees on this coming Monday. Social distancing. Warm temperatures. That should provide a safe environment. Daughters and wife still discussing.

Got up and ate.
2old, 60 degrees. Having a snowstorm here. Our dd lives down the street from us and she is in our bubble. Christmas there with masks and social distancing with just the six of us.

Been a rough week, but sounds like have come out okay. We have accounts in two banks. Did that when I was on the road, trying to protect ourselves against any hacks since I was using a card over quite a few states. In a second bank from where we had banked for 30 years, we opened a small checking account and a savings account. Only kept a few hundred dollars in the checking account for me to pay for fuel and hotels. I never carried a card for the savings account. Whenever the small account ran low, the wife would transfer funds from the savings. I had a card for our other bank which could be used in an emergency. Only used that once.
Since retiring, we have continued the "two bank" thing. Any time we purchase something on line, we use that small checking account. That protects everything else... or so we thought! Wife went in to check the balances at that bank on Monday. Couldn't get in to the accounts. Called the bank and, after being put on hold for over 40 minutes, was told "we had authorized a change of credentials and transferred our money to a credit union in Canada"! The accounts had been cleaned out! Thank goodness this was the bank with the small accounts! Still, we were looking at a number in five figures.
The bank customer service staff was terrible with a capital "T". Wife called Monday. They said they would "investigate" and call back. Didn't. Wife called Tuesday. Couldn't talk to the lady she had talked to on Monday because she was 'off until next week'. Had to go through the complete explanation again. Placed on hold again for over 30 minutes. Told... again... they were investigating and would get back to her. Wednesday. Same song. We were told we had to "prove" we did not authorize the transaction!! What?? Wife got a little testy. She did SUPER! Thursday... yesterday... wife called again. Were told the money had been returned to our account, but we would remain locked out until the investigation was completed. How long would that be? The lady she was talking with then, couldn't tell us. Today... after zero call backs from bank customer service, wife called once again. Now the bank was requiring certification from a computer professional that no virus was on my wife's computer so the accounts could not be hacked again. Luckily, we purchased her computer from Best Buy about 90 days ago... along with a one-year support by Geek Squad. (We usually don't purchase extended warranties, etc.) Headed to Geek Squad. Told them the story. They took the laptop and said it would take them about two hours. 1 1/2 house later, they called and I went to pick up the laptop. There was no virus found. They gave me a written diagnosis report stating that. Back home and report sent to the lady at the bank. This time, she did call back. (Must have not wanted the wrath of a rather upset blonde to deal with again!) Said she had rec'd the information but "upper management" had to sign off! Sheesh! She said she would be working tomorrow morning, Saturday, and would hope to have things back to normal. If not, it would be Monday. The good news is that we didn't lose the money. Had we been a family or person having all our money with this bank, we couldn't have purchase groceries or paid bills or completed Christmas shopping. And, if still working and not retired, what about the time spent on hold making repeat phone calls just to get our own money back in our account. As soon as our accounts are unlocked and we have access, we will be closing those accounts an taking those funds to another bank. We still like having funds in two different institutions as a safety net. At least we've had something to talk about this week and keep us from getting bored with politics, her girlfriend gossip and my golf!!!

How awful 2old. Good to hear you got your money back, but I too, would be closing that account and going elsewhere after all that bank put the Mrs. through. She should have filed a complaint with your State AG.

She should have filed a complaint with your State AG. Once we have access and have moved the money to another institution, I won't promise we are finished with this issue. We are far from wealthy. We live frugally, but are blessed enough to have enough to get by... and a little tucked back in a couple socks. Just cannot imagine this happening to someone needing their money to eat or pay rent. That's what gets my dander up. How many others have been caught in this abyss without an assistance from the bank's own customer service staff. If we have access on Monday, we might just try to ruin someone's Christmas! I hate to resort to the slogan that became my theme while working my last 15 years. "Don't get mad. Get even!" It was impossible to win an argument with some of the various contractors' personnel. Many were barroom brawling bullies. Yet, it was my responsibility to make certain the project was constructed correctly and the owner rec'd the finished product they paid lots of money for. It was amazing how attitudes changed when I would shut down a six-figure pay request. Sorta changed their perspective when they began tearing out work that would not meet design criteria and have to rebuild it... at their expense. I don't want anyone to lose their job over this. Yet, the bank management owes it to both their customers and their customer service staff to install protocols that require much faster resolution of customer issues. Sheesh! I talk too much.......... Times like this week make me think I'm related to a couple/one 'former' member of TRF who had something dreadful happen to them/her every other day!!! :>)

2old My thought exactly about this happening to someone needing that money, then having no access to it. It boggles my mind that this even happened since she personally didn't go into the bank and make a request/sign paperwork, to move the money elsewhere. BTW...Are you missing Sybil?

My wife asked why no contact was made with us before allowing credentials to the accounts be changed. The lady she was visiting with said they had tried to call, but our phone had been disconnected. Wife asked what number they had tried to call. The number on record was our old land line we disconnected four or five years ago. Wife asked if they had one of our emails on record. Yep! Both. Why didn't you contact us by email? We don't usually do that. ??? Wife said both accounts have shown recent activity. We have had both accounts with you for 15 years. With recent activity by us and the time we have had accounts... and a safety deposit box... why would you authorize cleaning out the accounts and sending the money to Canada? "Well, how were we supposed to know it wasn't you making the change?" Huh?? Let's just keep circling back.

2old , how very frustrating! That bank falls far short regarding customer service and safety, imo. I roasted baby potatoes (1-1/2 pounds), got a small start on Christmas decorating. Other minor chores.

I know if it were me, I'd be done with this bank, after going in and giving them a piece of my mind and closing everything out. Years ago, I had a substantial account at a bank in Ohio. While visiting my mother, I went to the bank to just make a few adjustment to my account and withdraw a small sum. I was running errands for more paint and in a hurry. I walked into the bank in T-shirt and jeans. A woman there, decked out in an expensive suit, stiletto high heels, makeup overdone, bleached blonde hair, fake tan and her fake long nails, approached me and pointed and said take a seat over there. I complied and sat....and sat...and sat....while she was at her desk doing what seemed to be nothing. She acted like she sized me up by how I was dressed and was ignoring me. So, I got angry, went up to a teller, ranted how that woman seated me, then totally ignored me for well over 45 minutes, so I am at your window to withdraw every single penny out of this bank! The look on her face was priceless after pulling up my account. She called that woman over & the bank manager to see if they could reason with me. Told them if that is the way she treats customers here, she doesn't deserve to have my business or a job at this branch. Close my account, period. She tried to apologize...I laughed, told her to go back to her desk and continue to just look pretty, doing nothing, helping no one, while collecting a paycheck. I later learned she was no longer employed there.
