I don't try to win any arguments but I do like to argue a point. I state my opinion or my understanding of a subject and I often back my points with a personal anecdote. IMO It is when people get hung up proving a point or a theory that things seem to go down hill.
The world would be very boring if everyone thought alike on everything. It would also be a stagnant society where that was commonplace.

There is a lot wrong in this world, and not just on the internet. Sometimes I feel like a Quaker who sees something wrong but is unable to do anything to stop it happening. Sometimes all we can do is bear witness and speak out.

Just took a peak "over there".... I see that this forum was mentioned in the "I'm Done Here" thread... Would I be wrong in assuming this little place is known over at SF? I hope they know they are all welcome to register over here... Think they know? lol....

we famous!! land of Free speech!!  well okay.... I excited about this forum and agree... everyone here... all of us... very polite even when "heated" threads erupt...no one feels "put down" for beliefs... we all have our opinions and have opportunity to express ourselves without fear of banishment as some have said those other forums do....

Well, IMO the least I'd have to say is that the forum was over-moderated. On forums I've admin'd /modded, the main enforcement effort was blasting drive-by spammers into kingdom-come. Forum trolls weren't tolerated, they'd get a warning then get the boot for a repeat violation. Otherwise, pretty much any conversation was allowed. No porn allowed. The forum software(usually phpBB) had a built in swear filter to block potty mouth. My more critical thoughts are that the SF admins have a political bias, and thus have favored members that get more consideration than members who hold opposing views. It's OK, I'll probably go there periodically, but posting alot less, and only in threads with people I trust. |

I find it hard to fathom why anyone would bother sending a nasty pm to a stranger on a forum.

Here is a short list of favored right-wingers that can do no wrong: Lara BobF Camper6 ....there's others, possibly. Camper 6 was the one who took a particular dislike to me. Bob F, too, but Camper was the worst to me. He even sent me a hateful PM. duplicate.. |

Camper 6 was the one who took a particular dislike to me. Bob F, too, but Camper was the worst to me. He even sent me a hateful PM. Yes.. I received several hateful PMs from Camper.. When I reported them to Matix, he refused to do anything.. I told him that it was akin to harassment yet still he said that there was nothing he could do. I can only imagine if I were the one sending the PMs.. well.. we KNOW what would have been done.. don't we.. Anyway.. that was the last straw for me.. and I blasted Matrix with both barrels... telling him exactly what I thought of him and his administration style and unfairness.. It wasn't but a day or so that the political forum was shut down.. so I really think that was the impetus of it... However, I know for a fact that many people have let Matrix have it... so I cannot accept all of the blame.. Maybe I was the last straw, but it was coming for a long time. |

It's almost comedic (in an ironically twisted sort of way) that Camper6 complains about the closing of the Political forum at every opportunity, when it was his(and others) provoking behavior that created the type of conflict that lead to closing the political section in the first place. I do understand Matrix' concern over the Political forum, I think he was torn between his political bias and trying to be even-handed with the political combatants. ...in the end, his political bias won out. |

I have a feeling I'm well on my way to getting banned soon too, as I mentioned the word politicized in my most recent post on the race thread over there. If I keep posting in it, I may say something that surely will get me banned.

I still go over there, mostly to read, but less and less, very little that's interesting is being posted. |
