I honestly can't even remember where I read the thing about someone doing away with wildlife.
I don't even remember what was done away with.
We live next to a wildlife preserve and every now and then a wild turkey decides she likes the bird seed in our yard instead of the food in the preserve/park.
It's funny because our cats pretend they don't even see them. Bird? What bird? I don't see a bird, do you? Very BIG bird. Lol.
The preserve is fenced in but that's no problem for a bird. When they take off into the sky it's a beautiful sight. They are so big, how can they do that?
We've had a few people walk right up on our lawn trying to catch one. There's a bright yellow sign you can't miss that tells you it is a wildlife preserve, no hunting, trapping etc.
One day an obnoxious twit walks up on our lawn with a noose, he's rubbing his big fat belly and pointing to the turkeys. He also pretends he can't speak English. But, he understood when I told him he was trespassing and I'm calling the police.
Go to a supermarket and get off my property! Funny how he knew what that meant. Ugh.

Funny how he knew what that meant. Ugh. Growing up we had no wild turkeys in our area. In the late 70's, some were 'seeded' in a small rural area just east of where we lived at that time. They flourished. Lots of turkeys. Had a hunting season. One of wife's nieces had one come through the windshield of her car, luckily on the passenger side and there was no one in the passenger seat. One of our past greens superintendents at the golf course had a small border collie. We have always had issues with geese on the course and leaving lots of droppings on a couple of our greens. "Callie", the collie, would chase the geese back to the pond close to the course. One day, as Callie was 'patrolling' for geese she spied a flock of wild turkeys. She thought she could herd the turkeys towards the pond as she always did the geese. When she started towards the turkeys, they turned and began running towards her. Callie ran back to the shop and never would chase geese...or turkeys after that! :>) With the recent drought, our turkey population dropped substantially. For the last couple years, they cancelled the hunting season. Opened up hunting again this year, but there were limited permits.
