In a tweet, business criticized the decision, writing, "California won't be doing business with Walgreens or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women's lives at risk. We're done."
In a statement to ABC News, a spokesperson for Newsom said the state was "reviewing" its relationship with Walgreens.
These attacks on business are bad if, DeSantis does them, or Newsom, the ends do not justify the means.
This is not democracy, at work, pass laws, so on, I did not like Newsom and show boating on worker's back, I like him even less, I would NOT vote for him in a primary!

Being a woman, I support Newsom’s decision. If companies are jerks and ban their products to states that allow abortions then let them feel the pain in their wallets. Money or lack of it talks.

I'm glad that California has a governor with a conscience and is not afraid to support the well being of it's citizens. If Walgreens and CVS allow themselves to be blackmailed that's their problem, the State of California is right to not support that.

DeSantis people say the same thing, Glade the governor with a conscience. Yes, conscience is good, target is wrong! It puts companies in an impossible spot. Are you saying some businesses can only do business in red state and some could only do business in blue state? The Red would not have let Walgreen do business in, their state, Walgreen could have sued, and pushed it to the (US Supreme Court?) and the stores would be close, for how long.
You do need to understand that there are extremely strong feeling on bought sides.
I am hoping the far-right goes too far, and there is a back-lash, to the middle and things will return, to sanity.

Are you saying some businesses can only do business in red state and some could only do business in blue state? Walgreens can of course still do business in California, what Newsom is saying is that the State of California will no longer be a Walgreens customer.

True story regarding Walgreens in the State of Wisconsin.
My very good friend and young mom was pregnant with her second child. Just before her 12 week check up she was feeling off. So she went to the ER.
The scan showed that her baby had died at approximately 8 weeks. It was now deteriorating inside the womb. The ER doctor couldn't do anything, an 1849 law banning abortions came into effect when Roe V Wade was overturned. He sent her to her doctor the next day. Her oby-gyn doctor couldn't do anything.
She eventually was prescribed Misoprostol which is not the pill being fought over in court at this time. If that didn't work...she'd have to leave the state and travel for help or wait until she was in the ICU and dying.
At the local Walgreens pharmacy, the pharmacist refused to fill the script. Our state also has a contract for medications prescribed for those on BadgerCare to get their meds at Walgreens. The pharmacist told my friend that she had issues with the med and even if she wasn't on BadgerCare, she couldn't afford it. My friend offered to pay out of pocket and get a loan if need be.
So now 3 days passed where she was told her baby was dead and decomposing inside of her. Imagine living with that? Eventually the local Hospital put pressure on Walgreens and she got her $12 medication.
She went through absolute H-ll because no doctor or midwife could be by her side to talk her through her contractions and birth of a dead dream.
The hospital, the doctors involved, and my friend have all filed official complaints against this pharmacist. However I don't see any reprimands coming. I just see that pregnant women will face death in our state because some old men and radicals have decided what we can do with our bodies.

That's unbelievably inhumane! And these people claim they are pro life?

They aren't pro life at all. They are pro telling another person what to do with her life. If (and "if" is still the biggest word in the dictionary), they are really pro life how come they don't give a damn about the women's life or future? How come they're not adopting?
They are not pro life! They are about controlling a woman's life, future, and decision. Nothing more. They need to mind their own business.
If they are opposed to an abortion don't have one! Or, as the Bible tells us, let them take the plank out of their own eye instead of trying to remove a speck in anothers eye.
MYOB. Mind your own business and let others deal with their own lives in their own way. It's none of your business.

I do know how bad things are, My point is attacking Walgreens pharmacy, is not going to help. Gavin Newsom announcement is a political stunt, it cost him nothing, and does nothing to help suffering women.
Walgreens is trying to follow a maze of laws, that are just bad, one state's trying to make abortion, murder.
Are the people working at Walgreens pharmacy going to go to jail for murder, if they give out the pills?
