What's with the beard thing on tv lately? I'm talking big bushy faces. Are they trying to look like bears? Is it me or does it seem like more and more men (so far only men) are covering their faces with big, bushy, fuzzy beards?
Is this a new trend? Are they too lazy to shave? Do women really like snuggling up to a fuzzy human face?
There's a guy in an ad who's beard is so thin and long the thing sways in the breeze like clothes on a clothes line. He walks towards the camera and the long fuzz on his face is blowing to the left.
I have no idea what the ad is about. None. All I see is a long black furry thing blowing in the wind as if it wants to get off his face.
I'd like to see a face, a whole face, and nothing but a face, please.

In the early 80's, I had a project in a predominantly Mennonite community. I went about 3 1/2 years without shaving. Never even trimmed the beard. Of course it was considerably darker, then, than it would be today!!! Keep threatening the wife about growing one again. She says okay if I keep it trimmed neat. If I don't keep it trimmed... find another place to reside!!! :>) I have no plans to grow another beard!! Around here, someone with a long beard is assumed to be a farmer/rebel/redneck... MAGA... type. The last thing I want is someone to think I am a Trumper!!!!

I think one reason is that during much of this extremely long pandemic period, mask mandates made it impossible to get beards shaved/trimmed by a professional. Even after those mandates were gradually loosened or lifted, most hairdressers/barbers remained unwilling to trim facial hair.
It's also possible that during these times, as many adapted to working from home, some at-homers simply gave up shaving.
I prefer the look of a clean-shaven man, but don't mind a beard if it's kept short and tidy. Much better a neat beard than the very short scruffy bristles that seem to be fashionable these days.

Scruffy bristles is the perfect description. Thank you, Formerlyme.
2old, no worries. I for one could never, ever think of you as a trumper. Nope. Never.

Both my husband and I had a good laugh when I read this post out loud. Now, we will be looking for this ad, just to see what you saw. Nutritional deficiencies, other health problems, and heredity determines how thick a man's beard can grow. Some men, their skin breaks out in redness, ingrown hairs and razor bumps when they shave. If they learned to shave properly, that probably wouldn't happen. A beard is also a sunscreen. It's warmth in the winter, like pet fur. And it can make up for being bald. Some don't like their baby face and feel a beard makes them look more mature. I much prefer a clean shaven face. Soft to the touch and not Pr*ckly like a cactus when kissed!

Hmmm... This thread has me tempted not to shave for a few weeks. When the wife questions it, all I need to say is some ladies on a forum told me to grow a beard!!! I'm trying to think about what her response would be!!!! :>)

I have also noticed a lot more men growing those long, unkempt beards lately. I don't like it. It looks messy and unsanitary to me. I love the clean-shaved look. My husband will grow a goatee from time to time...but even then, it is short and well kept.

2old, either she would not believe you, or she'd leave you. Choose wisely. ;)
