Hurricane Laura Live Updates: Powerful Category 4 Storm Nears Coast
The hurricane is projected to make landfall early Thursday near the Texas-Louisiana border, pushing a storm surge up to 40 miles inland.
Right Now
The storm’s sustained winds have reached 150 miles per hour, just shy of Category 5 strength.
This is one bad storm, I hope no one tried to stay in place. The only good thing is it is moving fast.

Hope all the people are someplace safe and able to ride out this storm. I can only imagine the devastation it will leave behind.

Just heard a report Louisiana had "only" 3 or 4 fatalities. Still the possibility, I suppose, to find more. Lots of devestation. Will take months/years to fully rebuild. Weezer, who posts on here, is in the Memphis area. Looks like they are getting pounded by the remnants of Laura. Heavy rain and high winds. Hope she and her folks are okay. I've messaged her in hopes she checks in.

Yep! She just answered my PM. Says they got quite a bit of rain but no damage. Expect more rain tonight.
