A Biden-Trump debate at this point would nothing but fodder for the media circus but a Pence-?? debate would have value in showing us what the unknown is made of. Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris would wipe the floor with him.
A debate should be to help the undecided make up their minds. I doubt there are many undecideds left although if Biden made a truly horrible choice for VP, it might send a few to the Trump camp.

If Bidens choice is horrible to some voters, and I don't see one horrible person on his list, and that causes them to vote for Trump, THEY are the ones, I repeat, THEY are the ones making a horrible and foolish choice, not Biden.
It angers and saddens me that I'm in the same boat with such ignorant fools!

I'd rather see Pence debate Biden's #2, whoever that may be. These are the people who are a heartbeat away from the presidency. How can Pence be an effective leader, if he refuses to meet with a female leader, a la Angela Merkel, behind closed doors? This must be addressed. I want to know how Pence can make objective decisions based on what's good for America, regardless of the religious implications. I doubt he could even perform in a debate with a strong female. I think that has happened in the past. Whats good for the US. What that is why we have debate and different political parties. Pence would do well.

I still do not think Pence will be the GOP VP candidate. Within hours after Biden announces his VP pick, Trump will announce Pence is out and Nikki Haley as his "new" running mate. Pence has carried Trump's water and been a "good little boy". However, he brings nothing. Early on, Pence was needed to bring along the evangelical vote. Trump already has a huge segment of the evangelicals anchored in his base. He wants a running mate who will bring the female vote he has lost back. A Haley/Harris debate might be an interesting evening.....

I believe that John McCain's choice of Palin to be a running mate changed the course of American history.

I agree. WTH was McCain thinking? Choose a woman and that will be a good thing? Hello. It's not just any woman.

How are the Debate Moderators Chosen? The moderators are selected by the CPD several weeks before the debates. The CPD uses three criteria to select its moderators: a) familiarity with the candidates and the major issues of the presidential campaign; b) extensive experience in live television broadcast news; and c) an understanding that the debate should focus maximum time and attention on the candidates and their views. The moderators alone select the questions to be asked, which are not known to the CPD or to the candidates. They do not meet with the campaigns, nor do the campaigns have a role in moderator selection. Starting in 1996, with a single exception, the CPD has used a single moderator for all of its debates in order to keep the focus on the candidates and their positions. The one exception was the second presidential debate in 2016, which was co-anchored by Martha Raddatz of ABC News and Anderson Cooper of CNN. www.debates.org/about-cpd/overview/
