First off, I've NEVER purchased or used the hand sanitizers and not about to start now. This has been a rip roaring business for this stuff and the companies have made their profits. And most likely will continue to. Last night on my favorite late night radio an expert on infectious disease discussed this issue for 2 hrs and about the "hand microbiome" . This is an excellent essay on Germs and why our body's need them. www.rd.com/health/wellness/overusing-hand-sanitizer/ I wonder how many here have heard all this information.

The link doesn't work but that is okay, I found it! Times You're Overusing Hand Sanitizer by Reader's Digest This was sort of old news. When I worked for the local clinics we couldn't keep hand sanitizers in hospital rooms because of the alcohol in them. It is true that the sanitizers are not always recommended. However in this case of the coronavirus? If you don't have access to soap and water I'd think the use of a sanitizer would be suggested, it has been shown to be effective against this virus. It does effectively do what it is intended to do, so if you are out in public and have no soap and water? Next choice would be logical, right?

Yeah yeah yeah… This information has been around for years joymarty.. and under normal circumstances I agree with it.. BUT.. we are hardly under normal circumstances.. People must protect themselves against this new and very real danger.. Covid-19.. the use of hand sanitizers now is not only prudent.. but necessary.

I've noticed a friend who uses the sanitizers pretty much that her hands are like cardboard, rough and no smoothness. :) My hands are rough and like a logger's hands. I don't wear gloves when I use a shovel or do gardening. My poor hands have been abused for years.
