Well, if trump admits to it, it isn't a quid pro quo and the Republicans would back him up.

Why is "quid pro quo" even mentioned. The definition differs as to whether you are truthful... or Republican. The penalty differs as to whether you are truthful... or a Republican. And, if Republican, the only single 'high crime or misdemeanor' that would warrant removal from the presidency is that of being a Democrat. Impeachment no longer has anything to do with actions. Be Trump. Promote Trump. Bow to Trump. Never take Trump to task. Be a cultist and you will never have to answer for your actions.

It sure as heck sounds like a 'quid pro quo', assuming Assange is telling the truth. No doubt Trump will get away with it because he has populated the swamp with those who are equally corrupt and will protect him.

I am conflicted about Assange. He is a very strange man and probably just as narcissistic as Trump but I do not think he is as untruthful as #45. I did not agree with him dumping huge amounts of secret information without any consideration of the consequences for individuals but in the end, it was the editors of news outlets who made the decision to publish the material.
Is he a journalist? Not in my opinion but he has been awarded a Walkley Award for journalism in Australia. Is he a whistle blower? No, he was given information by someone else who was the actual whistleblower. Is he a rapist? Under Swedish law he might be but his actions do not square with my idea of rape. Is he a traitor to America? How can he be? He is not a US citizen.
He is obviously afraid for his life if he is ever extradited to US. He cannot come home to Australia because we have an extradition treaty with America except where the death penalty is involved. If Obama were still president I think he should go and face the courts but under the present regime, I think I am on his side.
Now, if it is true that he was offered a pardon if he would make a statement that the Russians had nothing to do with hacking emails during the campaign of 2016, and given what we know about Donald Trump I can easily believe that this occurred, I believe he needs protection from a malevolent and vengeful White House.

Trump commuted Rod Blagojevich, perhaps Rod can find a place in Trumps cabinet to continue corruption.
