I've never been particularly attracted to the apple watches, but they've come out with the series 5 which can carry the EKG and other health related apps, but I understand you need an I Phone to operate it and download the apps? Is that so and what versions of the I Phone can manage this. The 11 version is almost a thousand bucks and while I can afford it, I don't know that I want to. Between the two it ultimately will cost close to $2000. I like the idea of being able to monitor both heart rate and rhythm at my age. So far I've escaped any heart issues - but there is a history of it in my family. I would appreciate any insight any of you can provide. thanks in advance

Last thing I want in my life. My heart seems fine and no Apple device to tell me otherwise. I'm on other groups and so many are so obsessed with running to docs for every little pain and bump...maybe that's true here too. Not me.

LOL No Quite different. As a nurse quite the opposite. Part of my past experience in in CCU/ICU so I can read an EKG and tend not to get too excited unnecessarily. I had several episodes of PAC's a couple of years ago. The watch would have helped me know what they were and reassure me.As it was I kinda figured what it was and didn't call my MD for several episodes. The watch is also a fall alarm and has cell app so emergency can be contacted. The cell would also be handy for when I go to the gym. It's only a short distance from here so I leave my wallet and phone here at home and just take my keys. Having a cell enabled watch would be handy in an emergency. There are many things about this one to recommend it - especially if you are a bit of a nerd.

Ah, a nurse. A very good friend is an RN pretty much retired but she keeps up her license but does not work anymore. She does some PT caregiving and she's really good at that and she helps me a lot since my knee mess. She and I think a lot alike but a lot unalike on going to docs etc...I was born a lot of years too early for all this technology. 1938
Be well.

LOL I was born in 1936 - and eat up technology with a big spoon. A lot depends on the environment you were exposed to when you were younger - as well as your own inclinations. You also :)

LOL I was born in 1936 - and eat up technology with a big spoon. A lot depends on the environment you were exposed to when you were younger - as well as your own inclinations. You also :) True, I'm a home remedy type of gal. Learned a lot from mom. Actually rebelled at technology in my 50's when I worked for Hitachi, thick with tech, but finally succumbed to a home desk top computer, which I won't be without and that's it. Still use a land phone and have had the same # for over 25 yrs. I don't need to be hooked up constantly. Less is best in my life and love my meditation too.
