I was Googling "smart power strip" which doesn't waste electricity when I came upon the following article. I found it to be quite interesting. Hope you do too. I only plug in the printer and microwave when I use them and I don't leave the tv on standby.But you have to leave set top boxes in standby mode if recording overnight.

I leave my toaster unplugged when not in use. Several years ago Oprah showed how easily toasters catch on fire if left plugged in all the time. That was when Oprah had a daily talk show.

I unplug a lot of things I no longer use. I would think the refrig uses most energy,
