Does it rank equal to or above such things as intelligence, preparedness, looks, wisdom, etc?
Charisma is explained as the quality of being able to attract, charm and influence those around you. A charismatic person appears confident in communication and also helps others feel confidence too, thereby aiding and enhancing the communication process. Charismatic people are confident in a dynamic way and I believe that explains Trump's continuing popularity among his followers.
Hillary Clinton had many admirable qualities but she lacked charisma. Her husband had it and so does Trump. Unfortunately Trump's charisma appeals to a class of people who do not value decency and honor.
Will the next election hinge on charisma and does the country have another candidate who has enough of it to defeat Trump? Your thoughts, please.

I'm not looking for a charismatic charmer. I want to see someone elected with morals, values and scruples. Something trump totally lacks.

I think charisma is important in a candidate...charisma instills hope for the future.
Obama had "it" and he certainly gave us hope, along with charisma he had intelligence and wisdom....no wonder he was loved and trusted......sigh.

I believe that positive charisma is important to bring a candidate closer to the people but in the case of a negative force as evident by the current occupant of the office, it works much in the same way To support how divided and twisted ideals this individual spews out on almost a daily basis is way beyond rational conception. Take the recent racist rhetoric he said about the 4 congresswomen No one really can definitely defend the president for his words yet the Republicans by and large support him in what he said. And Graham called them communists??? WTF?? The GOP is dead it is gone the Republican Party should just call themselves the Trump Party and forget tap dancing around. Do they support racism? No I don’t think so but they are so frightened by Trump they are scared to openly condemn him. Sadly it means they no longer support the Constitution but rather support a weak minded racist individual

I'm not looking for a charismatic charmer. I want to see someone elected with morals, values and scruples. Something trump totally lacks I want that too as well as intelligence, wisdom and experience. Hillary Clinton had ALL those things but an incredibly large number of voters supported Trump instead and continue to support him despite his absolute mockery of the of the office. Charisma is not always an admirable trait. It's simply the ability to persuade a lot of people to follow you. Adolph Hitler had lots of charisma as do most cult leaders. The Democrats need a strong, qualified AND charismatic leader and I've not seen one among the candidates so far. I pray the debates will show us one because I'm not certain someone without it can win.

I don't see an ounce of charisma in the dump. All I see is BS, ego, deceit, lies, and chaos. I still don't believe he was elected. He was selected.
I think many of the Democrat candidates have charisma or personality. Perhaps if the media paid more attention to them instead of the monster in the WH others would see it too.
I don't give a rats about his rants and tweets! It's the Donald dump show 24/7. And he complained President Obama spent too much time on tv!
Make him go away!!

What we should do is ignore Donald Trump and his asinine tweets no matter what he says he will always be the pendejo that he has shown the world. His ego is as big as his baby blimp!!!

I consider charisma to be very important in a political candidate. We haven't really had a chance to evaluate any of the 20+ who are running on the Democratic ticket. I thought a few of them had charisma, but it is too early to tell. We need to view more of them in action. We already know about Biden and Bernie. We need a younger person.

I agree, Ruby.
The media can't seem to get enough of this idiot. Why is every idiotic tweet news worthy? He's not presidential. He's a media hog who never really has anything important to say.
He's a thug and a name calling bully. A 13 year old has more dignity and class. Actually, a dog has more manners than this babbling fool.
I know there has to be other things going on in the real world other than the stupid and mean spirited rants of a fool.
He's not a president and his VP is just as cruel and foul.

Oh, tell that to his base down in N.C. where he is now preaching to them for 2020.

I think it also has a lot to do visual. To people listening on the radio, Nixon beat Kennedy in a debate, but those watching it on TV said Kennedy won.
