Billionaire Tom Steyer just announced he is joining the gang of Democratic candidates for POTUS. Steyer had been a major donor to previous Democratic campaigns. Steyer presents a couple of huge issues for the 2020 Democratic challenge to Trump.
If Steyer doesn't get the nomination and pouts... the candidate who does get the nomination will not benefit from that funding. And... if Steyer feels he has been snubbed by the DNC, will he fund Trump's campaign or the campaign of a third party candidate?
If Steyer does get the nomination... if he buys the nomination... I don't see any way he can appeal to the Democratic base minorities and working class. We've had enough of the hedge fund manager billionaires. They just haven't lived on "this side of the tracks". Steyer's rhetoric may sound as if he is sympathetic to the Democratic base. Will they hear it that way?
If Steyer is serious, and it appears he is, this move may well have just guaranteed re-election of Trump in 2020.

Could that be the motive?

What Steyer says about the 5 Rights sure makes a lot of common sense whether he's a billionaire or not. Did you listen to the 1minute+ video Chinadoll. I don't think he's a splashy billionaire like so many we've had and wonder how many bankruptcies he's had.... Unless some ugliness comes to the forefront, Steyer looks good clean cut to me. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_SteyerSteyer is one of the younger candidates and as much as I like Warren I don't feel the U.S. will vote her in. And pathetically it takes a LOT of money to run a campaign and so many are worn out just in the early campaigning need for funds. Steyer as I hear it will fund his own campaign.

As of right now, I am hesitant to support a businessperson for POTUS. I was one who thought, years ago, that the country should be run like a business. For 2.5 years, we've seen how that works. I don't feel like trying it again, even if he does have a (D) after his name.

They are all business people, you want a priest to run for president? Everyone is different and NONE could ever be like a trump.

People who run businesses want to call the shots. At the Iowa Caucus I will not stand for Steyer. But in the long run, I will vote Democrat in November of 2020.

Never again will I vote for a name that is followed by (R) on any ballot.
