My daughter called me with horrible news about my grandson's best friend when they were in preschool, grandson is 19 so would be the same for "T"... this young man struggled with alcohol and drugs for too many yrs and my grandson and his friends tried to talk to him, well news this morning is that the boy died. He would have been 20 soon. My heart is heavy for his family and what a waste, what a loss.
Maybe people have to die to save others, there is a plan out there I believe and maybe this is one...
My grandkids who are 22 and 19 have seen enough of legal and illegal drugs in their own home so to date, neither one imbibe or do drugs. Sure hope these stay on their good paths.

"The good die young" is something repeated far too often. Here in our relatively small community, we have suffered the loss of a number of young folks to suicide. Military base close by and many of our combat veterans have taken their own lives due to PTSD. Auto accidents. Drug overdoses. So much for these young folks to cope with... and the survivors. Hug those close to you every day.

Sad stories. Hope your grandkids can abstain from drugs and alcohol. It must be difficult to be a young person these days with all the bad news about politicians, school shootings, and the rest. It's hard enough for me to deal with it and I have almost 80 years of living.

My daughter caught up with the boy's mother on the phone today and they both sobbed about the young boy's death. Remembering their boys childhood years. My daughter and her children will attend the memorial.
