Ron Reagan's ad plays frequently on TV promoting the Freedom From Religion Foundation. It's a foundation for atheists and agnostics, trying to recruit members. May I ask, why were you shocked by the article you posted, joymarty ?

I was on the fence for so many years about religion/god and finally when I saw Julia Sweeney in her One Woman Play, Letting Go of God, when I was mid 60's was I able to LET GO. She was my inspiration and she told her story of her upbringing etc etc....
I understand she now is on the board of the Foundation in WI.
I like Ron Reagan.
Why was I shocked, because I never read the bible that is supposed to be so great. Lots of cruel stuff in those books...
My first learnin in my life was from the 10 Commandments and the rest has been learnin and common sense to make my life work.

I have never read any Bible and don't intend to do so now. I, too, started with the 10 Commandments and then the nuns moved us to Catechism for many years .... same rules, bigger words each year.
Seems like I mentioned the Freedom from Religion group on this Forum a couple of months ago. I'll have to check on that.
The URL you posted is interesting and true. Having been raised as Catholic, I know how it feels to be a second class person in that Church.

Yes, joymarty, I posted a URL about it in the Post entitled "The Nation's largest association of freethinkers," Does that group offend you or do you like it? I couldn't tell by your answer.
