Thanks nkat & highlandannie !
It was great to learn that, although I still have heart failure, the heart is 'holding its own' and reasonably stabilized. I'd been so afraid that the fainting would mean that my heart was seriously screwing up. Whew! formerlyme , I'm glad to hear you weren't further injured, and that the cause of the fainting has been sorted out. A bike helmet might not be a bad idea, Thank You, tnthomas!

I am beyond frustrated! Beyond Upset!
I'd reduced my diuretic (fluid pill) from the prescribed 80mg to 60mg in the summer, and eventually down to 40mg. That, along with the cooler weather, and learning the warning signs and how to handle them, I'd gone almost 1-1/2 months without fainting. I was feeling hopeful.
Today, I decided to try 60mg of diuretic to see how it went and, dang it all, this evening I fainted. I've got a nasty carpet burn on my left forehead and a scrape just above the left side of my left eyebrow. It's advised to not take any diuretics with this fainting syndrome, but it's necessary for my heart to prevent serious edema. Kind of a 'Catch 22" situation.
There are so many medical things going on with me (thyroid condition, spinal arthritis, AFib, heart failure, Diabetes, and now this fainting crap) that it's days like this I feel like giving up. If it weren't for my son and grandson, I'd be tempted. I've had 76 years, more than many people do, and my quality of life has seriously declined in the last few years. I don't want the coming years to be filled with one misery after another. Don't worry...I'd never commit suicide...the coward's way out...would never hurt my loved ones that way. What I mean by the thought of giving up that crosses my mind at low points is stopping most meds and letting nature take its course. I'm probably too much of a coward to do that.
From my perspective, my long-time family doctor couldn't have picked a worse time to have moved away. Tuesday I have my first visit with her replacement (for l year only) after which I'll be assigned another permanent doctor. I'm not looking forward to the visit.
Maybe tomorrow I'll feel more positive about my situation...hopefully.

Thanks chinadoll1981 and TheSource!
I do get discouraged at times, which is only human. Venting helps, and it means a lot that good friends like you notice and post supportive comments.

Sorry to learn you experienced another fainting episode formerlyme . Perhaps this new doctor will find a better alternative to the diuretic you are now taking if one is absolutely needed. Have you ever tried Spironolactone? Hope all goes well at your Tuesday appointment and they figure something out that will stop these fainting spells.

I appreciate all the thoughtful well wishes.
I had a bad faint last Thursday that messed up my face (2 huge black eyes, bruised/swollen upper lip inside & out, sore discoloured nose, huge shoulder bruise. After a bad weekend, I connected with my Doctor by phone today, and she insists I go to Emergency to be checked out, EKG, chest x-ray, etc., etc. She wants to book me to see my cardiologist again, too. Wish me luck that I get some solid answers, and I'll touch base when I'm back home.

I surely hope you can get to the root of your fainting. I found all this info and don't know if you've seen this link on fainting and all the reasons WHY. www.webmd.com/brain/understanding-fainting-basics#1It mentions anemia and just thinking of my daughter and how anemic she was for many years and thru the HGH we are using, it's all been reversed..she's a new person.

I should have added to the above on this topic, I had a friend and as she was getting older she was paranoid about adding salts and thought a banana a day was enough potassium..Each and every time she would pass out/faint and was taken to ER she was so deficient in potassium and they had to give her IV's of this mineral. Just a thought for you. The RDA for daily potassium is 5200mg for females. I'd bet MOST don't get close to this RDA.
Avocados are higher in potassium about 700mg each. I eat 3 a week and I work to make sure I'm getting adequate potassium and take tablets now and then.
I have a separate thread here on the potassium issue and fatigue.
Your issue could be as simple as mineral deficiency from certain foods.
And I believe too diuretics remove potassium from our bodies, so I'm on top of that one, I take a diuretic but have been taking 1/2 tab in recent months.
