Hello, TRF Friends! This is to let you know that I'm about to call an ambulance and go to the hospital, to finally try to get to the bottom of this fainting business. I fainted again this afternoon, and pranged the same spot on my head that I injured Monday. Time For Answers and, hopefully, a solution. Wish me luck, and don't worry. I'll be in good hands.

Hopefully, they will find out what is causing these fainting issues and come up with a solution. Sending good vibes your way and looking forward to your return!

Thanks, Drifter . I have Good News!
Two nice female paramedics came and checked me out thoroughly (EKG, the works). They said there's no need to go to the hospital. My heart tested out just fine, and the fainting episodes are unrelated. They are caused by irritation or over-stimulation of the vegus nerve in my neck, provoked by the record extreme heat and humidity here this summer. Such a relief...you have no idea how much my anxieties were eased.
Guess I'll just buy a bicycle helmet, hahaha. Can you picture this when grocery shopping?
They gave me various tips, like staying indoors in hot weather, putting my low step stool in the bathtub to sit on when bathing because I'm afraid of falling in the shower, pacing myself and not rushing around too much when doing chores, etc.
I'd do a happy dance, but I'm not supposed to over-exert.

Glad you're okay but do take extra care of yourself in the heat and stay hydrated.

Thanks nkat & highlandannie!
It was great to learn that, although I still have heart failure, the heart is 'holding its own' and reasonably stabilized. I'd been so afraid that the fainting would mean that my heart was seriously screwing up. Whew!

I'd been so afraid that the fainting would mean that my heart was seriously screwing up. Whew! Your problem is different than what I have. I have low normal blood pressure and when I stand up even a little too quickly the blood forgets to go back to my head and after walking about 30 seconds I have to hold on to something or sit down or I will fall. Orthostatic hypotension.

Sometimes we cannot explain these things but I am glad that you figured out it is the heat and humidity doing it to you. I know my hubby cannot take the extreme temps and humidity. He also gets dizzy from his meds and we've been sorting through via a pharmacist and his doctors what we can safely lower in dosages.
It made a huge difference in his light headed issues. Stay well.

Glad you are okay formerlyme! Too funny about the bike helmet. Good to see you have a sense of humor. Some good tips they gave you. Hopefully, the heat and humidity will break soon and these fainting spells will cease.

Thanks, louie. I'm pleased that your husband is doing better. Sometimes meds are more than a body can handle and need to be cut back to reduce side effects.

Whew! formerlyme, I'm glad to hear you weren't further injured, and that the cause of the fainting has been sorted out. A bike helmet might not be a bad idea,
