I loved dancing around the Maypole too. I grew up in Queens, NY. We lived right across the street from the elementary school. In the school yard there were 2 basketball poles. In May they became our May poles. So much fun and so much color. Thanks for the fond memories, Formerlyme! I know I'm late to the party but Formerlyme your May Day basket is beautiful. Not sure where you live but I can smell those flowers here on Long Island, NY. Intoxicating in a good way. lol. I hope you had a great May Day celebration.

Never had a May pole in school but we learned about giving baskets of flowers. My mother always gave flowers from her garden to neighbors on May 1st.
