while i couldn't support pence i think he would be somewhat better in that he would respect our governmental system I'm not so sure about that, SudsOO. He's a religious nut job. He's watching and waiting for Jesus to come again. pence is one of those people who longs for a theocracy. We NEED intelligent, sane, politicians who really DO respect our system of government and truly DO believe in the separation of religion and politics. pence believes in the union of religion and government. The monster in the WH picked pence because he knew he'd bring in herds of obedient believers. Watching and waiting just like pence for Jesus to return. While they're waiting they might as well vote republican, bash and insult Gays, immigrants, POW'S, war hero's, Blacks, shame and disgrace women who dare to do what they want with their own body, make Democrats out to be evil, only watch Faux news, and all the other things that make America great! The brain is a terrible thing to replace with superstition.

If he had to choose between honoring state or religion, even if he took an oath to uphold the law (liars love to take oaths) I believe his religious beliefs would come first. Imho.

He's a religious nut job. It's the "nut job" extremism of his religiosity that I find disturbing, especially that it also influences his political and legal perspective. I'm thinking that for now we're 'better off' [ ]with the crass, illegitimate tRump fool at the helm, than a truly anti-christ type individual like Pence.

Thomas, I agree! Pence is a right wing religious crack pot. A dangerous wing nut. I believe that's why the jerk made him his vp. He needed the votes of other right wing lug nuts. That's how a perverted, lying, cheating, tv monster ended up in the WH. Snuggle up to people who believe a man who died over 2000 years ago, and works in mysterious ways, must have chosen a maniac to be the leader of the US. Can you think of anything more mysterious than that?

One member of a website I used to visit always said Obama was our messiah. I'm beginning to believe trump is their messiah. If Clinton had won, she'd be vilified for doing what he's done. The lies, the tweets, the obstruction, etc. Hillary Clinton would have been impeached and removed from office by now.

while i couldn't support pence i think he would be somewhat better in that he would respect our governmental system and reach some kind of accommodation with different people.that said;he is narrow minded.if he were to become president he might not be re-nominated In some ways I think Pence is even more dangerous than Trump. I don't think for a minute he would respect our government system.

I agree, Butterfly. Our government was created by and operates according to the will of mankind. Our Constitution was written by men. Pence believes his holy book was written by his God.
He would choose, what he believes is the word of his God over the word of mere man, our Constitution.
Pence is a typical example of why we were warned by our Founding Fathers to keep religion out, way out, of politics. They were such wise men. I wonder what they'd think about the dumpster and pence. Shock, disgust, horror, and disbelief?
I've been told I have to respect others religions. I do. As long as their beliefs respect my politics. If they cross the line I will too.

people who believe a man who died over 2000 years ago, and works in mysterious ways, must have chosen a maniac to be the leader of the US. This type of grossly misguided sickness didn't exist, when I was growing up & going to Sunday school. We were taught that Jesus is about forgiveness, compassion, feeding the poor, etc.

Thomas, you are correct. I remember those days too. Fond memories.
I remember having tee shirts and buttons with WWJD?
What would Jesus do? Kidnap children, lock up their parents, lie, cheat, steal, lie, encourage violence, preach division and hatred, lie, waste taxpayers money, and lie.

WHAT IF.... ...instead of heading for Mars at breakneck speed, we focused on creating a self sufficient Moon colony? The Moon is made of the same materials as Earth and unimpeded sunlight (no blocking atmosphere) mixed with the lunar soil and water could outproduce any farmland on our home planet. In March 2010, it was reported that the Mini-SAR on board Chandrayaan-1 had discovered more than 40 permanently darkened craters near the Moon's north pole that are hypothesized to contain an estimated 600 million metric tons (1.3 trillion pounds) of water-ice. These resources coupled with modern technology would make a human settlement feasible and future spaceflight and exploration possible without any further assistance from Earth.
Why would this colony be deemed necessary? Human history of continuous warfare , Natural threats of super volcanoes , and Everest sized asteroids that could extinguish our race forever make this colony essential to the continuity of our strain. Why should we care? If you feel the need to ask that question, don't be concerned....you're not a potential inhabitant.
This question "What if?", is rapidly becoming; "When?". We have the means now, we have the exploratory motivation now, and we have the existential imperative....now. I suppose we could just keep on bumbling along, worrying about morons like Trump holding the codes to the largest nuclear arsenal until extinction, but I simply can't believe we are as stupid as he is. What do you think?

Apparently, my last "What If" entry was too depressing to elicit comment. So be it. Let's try something on a different tack while remaining upwind.
Considering the recent alienation of the military's top brass; what if...they joined forces with the equally estranged intelligence community (CIA, FBI, NSC) and orchestrated a "Bloodless" coup?
Would the people accept it? Would federal troops willingly confront our own citizens with the threat of force? Is a coup likely?

Assuming that the coup was executed with the express intent to hand control of the government back to the people- I would welcome such. Would the people accept it? Would federal troops willingly confront our own citizens with the threat of force? Is a coup likely? The people that would not accept the removal of Trump and his criminal associates would be his supporters. If they had thoughts of challenging the military, I think they would be in for a big disappointment.

While I would welcome anything that would remove the GOP from power, I also think that a military coup is a dangerous precedent. Remember, the founding fathers specified that a civilian would be the C-in-C.

If we had a Congress and SCOTUS who both stood up for the Constitution and wanted Trump removed... but he would not leave... a "bloodless" coup might be an option. Today, we have a significant majority of Trumpsters in the Senate and the SCOTUS leans his way. If Ginsberg passes, or retires, Trump will have the SCOTUS majority in his pocket. To effect such a coup, the military would need to remove Trump while the Senate and SCOTUS were proclaiming such a coup as criminal. We have just witnessed Trump defending war criminals in our military. He is ordering our military leaders to vacate decisions handed down my the military justice system. The honorable generals have quit, leaving us with nothing but those who will bow at the King's throne.
