My son and his partner are coming for dinner Christmas day, and I absolutely am stumped for gift ideas of what to get his partner. He is late 20s, Asian, college educated professional.
Not a 'first meeting", but he does bring gifts, so I would like to reciprocate.
Any ideas would be most welcome! Kind of late I know, but that's how I roll.

Let's just say, I'm glad I'm not you as I haven't a clue what to get hat generation these days. This is why I stopped doing the gift exchange long ago. Even though I do slip up now and again as I did last year and am going to again this year by trying to buy my something for my neighbor who gets my mail for me when I'm away. Ask your son, just give your son a call and ask him, he would be the best one to advise or go with a nice hat and glove set and forgetaboutit. Once I start getting to worked up, I just take a deep breath, pic the easiest item out of the bunch and say, well at least they know I thought to try and the day will be over before they blink. And #@$%#$#$%% everyone get the #$#%^$ over yourselves. I feel so much better, thanks for allowing me to vent.

I thought of asking my son, but then again I don't know what to get him either.
I would prefer to ditch the whole gift exchange thing, but the habit seems to persist still, in the family.
I just finished lunch, maybe I'll just go to the mall and browse. If nothing else, I'll be able to log a couple miles on my ped-o-meter phone app.

Did you have any luck at the mall, tnthomas? If not, how about a gift certificate for something they can enjoy together: symphony concert, movie, nice restaurant, or anything you might know they are interested in? Perhaps put the gift certificate in a card addressed to both, along with a classy box of chocolates?

But, tomorrow morning I must get up(!) and out of the house early for that mall trip, then all I'll have left is a run to the grocery store(no later than early Sunday morning) for Christmas dinner.
At least I got my daughter's gift taken care of, she lives 3 hours away in Henderson, NV and is working Christmas eve + Christmas day, so I ordered a Christmas floral arrangement to be delivered to her at work.
...the holidays is stressful for me, but after Christmas no so bad, new Year's means absolutely nothing to me, off to bed well before they drop the ball in Time's square. (do they still do that?)

I thought of a way to avoid driving to the mall, thought I'd use 1-800 Flowers to buy a gift for the both of them, and have it delivered here. Then I got an even better idea: Starbucks gift cards! Yes! They have Starbucks gift cards at the grocery store, and since I was going there this morning anyway... I'm done with the stressful part of the holidays!

Excellent idea, I can't think of very few in that age group who wouldn't be thrilled with such a gift. I'm just dreaming about all the caffe lattes I could have. MMMMMMMMMMMM. bow-down to the gift giver.

I'm just dreaming about all the caffe lattes I could have. My Starbucks favorite is a hazelnut latte, with a sprinkle of cinnimon or nutmeg.

On my net trip to Publix or one of my visits to the doctor's located in the hospital where they both have a Starbucks.

They both loved the Starbucks gift cards. My son's partner(Tim) works for a major airline and frequents Starbucks at airport all over the world.

Unfortunately, I just saw this post. I would have suggested gift cards right away. My kids and nieces and nephews are all in the late 30s or early 40s age category and my grandsons are only 8 yrs. old, but gift cards are the thing they give and like to receive for presents. I get cards for Amazon, Starbucks, and various restaurants. It is so easy. Isn't it the thought that counts?
