Good morning to all- I know that in many places of the country the weather is getting downright nasty, and I always found winter to be especially depressing when we lived in the Midwest. But here on the Gulf Coast, things are nice. First, our camellias in the yard are blooming and the ground beneath them looks like pink snow from the fallen petals. Bees are working the camellia blooms. This time of year is when our satsumas- that's a wonderful variety of tangerine- come ripe, and I get to go out early in the morning walking the dogs and the pig and pick a dozen satsumas to bring in and make breakfast juice- much superior to orange juice, by the way. Later today we'll make leftover from Thanksgiving duck gumbo- made with crab meat, shrimp, and duck- slap yo' grannie kind of good. And when the weather warms just a little bit, I'll take either the boat or a kayak down to the water and catch some trout or redfish to grill up. So, despite the vile conditions in D.C. and state capital- things are pretty nice. good day to all- Ed
