all I want is to live with less pain. I understand that. Does the suggestions your doc made for reducing pain sound do-able?

It was just the basic generic advise, dietary changes, exercise, so sure doable.
I did get all my labs back and they were all in tnt normal range, well except for being pre-diabetic.
Thanks for caring. :. )

For now I decided to go in a different direction, and try some Glucosamine to see if it can make any noticeable improvement in my joints. I ordered this product: Schiff Glucosamine 2000mg with Vitamin D3 and Hyaluronic AcidSounds like a good option. I'm scheduled to see another specialist after I return from my Florida trip. Actually I will be seeing more than one specialist, but that's another story not great for typing about on this cell. Fun times. I hope all works out very well with the glucosamine

I hope all works out very well with the glucosamine Thanks, the product I ordered looks to be enough for 75 days. I'm thinking that I "should" see some result in 75 days. If not, I doubt I'll continue with another round of Glucosamine and go to Plan B. Plan B= ?

I've used DMSO for years and have put it directly on my skin 99% type and now add some drops to my Ultra Tiger Balm and love love Topricin for pain, it's homeopathic. I've tried so many topicals and live with advancing OA and a mess from a hip replacement in 2010. What a saga that has been for me. Do it with good intentions and live with the outcomes.
They are not a walk in the park, piece of cake.
I use Ibuprofen every 6 hrs and change off with Tylenol and don't expect to be pain free. believe me. I'm 81 this year and this all started w hen I was 18.
Cutting out sugars and refined carbs help big time. Or majorally reducing intake.
Wheat elimination helps too. Dairy too.
I have found the joint surgeries only can make OA worse. Reducing weight and years of PT can be better answers than these surgeries. Once done they cannot be reversed. Too many elective surgeries today and then of course there are those of necessity, real necessity.

Well, in my case hip replacements didn't make my OA worse, on the contrary, they allowed me to walk again.
As to pain relief for OA in other areas, I've found CBD creams to be helpful, particularly on my neck.

Well I got a letter from my doctor, seems he is "concerned" about my continued use of Baclofen(10mg), apparently looking to CUT that. I'm not happy, the Baclofen is only marginally effective, in my mind I'd be
looking for something stronger, so the dr. and I are going in opposite directions on the issue. Of course, I am the one having pain, and that I'm sure is secondary to the Dr.s "concerns"...the main concern being
increasing constraints that the FDA is imposing on Kaiser's formulary. I made an appointment, this time I shall insist on a proper back exam, CT, MRI or whatever is appropriate. I know they don't want to spend money, I'm getting sick of that, I might take my business elsewhere. I've found CBD creams to be helpful, particularly on my neck. I recently bought some CBD oil, I use it sublingual. Supposed to help with anxiety and pain, hard to say how effective it really is. At first I 'thought' it was working good(placebo effect?) but after a while, not so sure.

A friend is now gone at 95 claims 25 yrs of taking glucosamine product kept her walking as she did, no replacements ever. I continue with Cosamin DS, it's highly recommended.
Surgeries do advance OA in many.
I've used so much in my last 30 yrs since OA advanced and now finding the HGH Homeopathic Gel I'm using is helping this 81 yr old soon to live in less pain. Less pain meds and that's a big leap.
CBD is so so and I've purchased salves and some oral drops but not what I had hoped for.

My daughter who is 55 brought the HGH gel to my life and she's had a lot of damage to her body and even vicodin addiction and now she wants nothing to do with the drug world. The HGH homeopathic gel is changing her life.

increasing constraints that the FDA is imposing on Kaiser's formulary. Update
I recently got a second letter regarding Kaiser's desire to end my prescription to Baclofen. I put it in the Medical file folder. Then last week the pharmacy called, I picked up the phone and had a conversation with them. As I expected, the pharmacy employee confirmed my suspicion that the Government is leaning on them to cut out or reduce meds that could be considered CNS depressants. I told the pharmacy caller that this type of action only impacts the patient negatively, and will force some to seek pain relief solutions from "the street". She said that the Baclofen prescription would continue to be available[for now].
I'm going to give CBD oil a second try, will buy the highest strength(1500mg) locally. I'm also looking to try some natural muscle relaxers:
Peppermint oil Cherry Juice Arnica Oil
I've read that cherry juice is used by body builders after a workout, which is precisely the issue with my current pain situation, as I see it. Peppermint oil sounds like a topical solution that would at least smell good.
Not sure about Arnica Oil, anyone use it before?

I use Arnica roll on products and buy mostly on ebay. They help but I don't look for totally out of pain, I know better.

I have used DMSO 99% for many years and just recently bought DMSO roll ons that are gel form and I roll my lower back where I can't reach with my hands. I'll buy them again.
