Ouch. I haven't visited here for a very long time.
Beef for the year raised on our place. Cost for 600 lbs of beef: $325. Pokr for the year purchased and butchered: $92
I must say that the beef was really much more over the long haul as we had to feed him for two years prior to sending him to out for processing.
I gave 150 lbs of beef to a family in trade for labor on fencing and work on the farm.
I will only purchase items like cereal and other staples for the year. We are not wealthy but on a fixed solo income as I care for hubby. Raised a small garden and froze or dehydrated all of our veggies and many wild fruits.
My grocery cost is about $100 per month. It is helpful to live in a rural area. However. There are no conveniences like taxis or stores close by.
We are very lucky.

I only buy fresh fruit and veg. Very little processed food. I don't buy a lot of meat unless we are having guests. I do buy chicken or turkey breasts to put on my salad for lunch. Sometimes smoked salmon to have with scrambled eggs for lunch.
I also buy soy, almond and coconut milk and soy yogurt.

I'll have to keep track as I'm forever going to the store for something, whether it be milk, eggs or bread during the month after the initial shopping. Oh, and potatoes,, always needing more potatoes.
