I'm listening to a video of a George Carlin video. Wow! He was a man way ahead of his time. Much of what he talked about - especially politics and religion would be so relevant today. He's be almost apoplectic about some of the BS going on in Washington. I always liked him. He was so irreverent towards some of the GOP's most cherished icons. He died in 2008 of heart disease at 71. What a sad loss.

I liked him also. He did not sugar coat anything, but opened our eyes to much!

Great performer. He could cut to the heart of an issue and present it for what it was with just a few words - usually irreverent, always funny.

I saw Carlin live at different stages of his career. He was a brilliant comedian and commentator on society, politics, etc. The last time I saw him was not too long before he passed away, and I came away from the show thinking how bitter he sounded. The show was a disappointment; less humor and more ranting. Still, always inciteful. His riffs on politics and religion are outstanding, and yes, we need someone like him in this troubled time.
By the way, the autobiography, published after he died by Tony Hendra is very revealing about the man and where he came from. I really enjoyed it. Called "Last Words." A good read. Carlin didn't have it easy, but he was a very hard working comedian. Never realized how much trouble he got into with the IRS, but he worked his way out of it.

I loved Carlin's commentary on politics and the quirks of society, he was taken from us much too soon.
Talk about bitter, Louis Black takes up where George Carlin left off. That doesn't stop me from savoring every comedy act he does.

I've typed 2 answers to this Carlin thread and neither has shown up. I wonder if this one will.
Yes, it did.
A George Carlin monologue on t. would be priceless. I sure do miss him.
