Chris Collins(R) has been arrested for insider trading....and no telling how many of his family, friends and fellow congress people will go down with him, everyday we see more and more corruption in this administration and this congress....the "Swamp" is Washington DC as long as they remain in office.

Please don't assume that Republicans have a lock on scumbaggery. Take a look at Democrat controlled NY State. Count the number of our elected and appointed officials either indicted in prison or going there. Mostly Dems!

Insider trading has gone on forever by both Dems and Reps but it appears that Collins was a little more blatant with it than is socially acceptable by even that crowd. It's one of the dirty little perks of being in Congress but it's not limited to just congressmen. It helped send Martha Stewart to jail.
Congressmen are in a unique position to be able to accurately predict stock movement since so much of what affects it comes from government regulations and actions. Many put their business interests into a blind trust to avoid conflict of interest but Trump has blown that concept out of the water.
It probably didn't occur to Collins that what he was doing was wrong.

It will be outstanding to hear if he gets convicted and sentenced to a few years in prison. Seems like a very worthy candidate for a stint "inside" at the behest of the federal government.
This from Forbes magazine the other day.
"Under insider trading law, despite the fact that the Congressman himself did not trade, he can be criminally and civilly responsible for that full amount. Ignoring for the bluster-worthiness the “maximum penalties” under federal criminal law that prosecutors love to use to suggest why someone may go to jail for 20 years or longer, the more illustrative and instructive Federal Sentencing Guidelines suggest that the Congressman and his son, if convicted, each may spend anywhere from just under four to almost five years in jail. That calculation is before including a bump up for lying to the FBI."
